Manager, Financial Services Risk Consulting (Lender Due Diligence)

As a manager in RSM’s growing Financial Services Risk Consulting practice, you will have the opportunity to leverage your financial services, credit, risk, and due diligence experience while continuing to grow your leadership and client management skills. You will work with leading financial institutions and specialty finance organizations on complex engagements involving lender due diligence, credit risk, asset-backed lending, loan portfolios, and related financial services transactions.

In our Financial Services Risk Consulting practice, our team works alongside lenders, investors, risk and internal audit functions, and other stakeholders to evaluate risks, assess controls and processes, and provide insights that support informed lending and investment decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Client Experience

• Lead and manage lender due diligence and risk consulting engagements for financial institutions, lenders, investors, and specialty finance organizations.
• Assess the design and effectiveness of credit, operational, servicing, compliance, and risk management controls.
• Review and evaluate third-party diligence, audit, agreed-upon procedures, collateral examination, and other supporting reports as part of the overall diligence process.
• Identify and assess credit, collateral, operational, compliance, and reporting risks, and develop practical recommendations to address identified issues.
• Support diligence related to asset-backed lending, warehouse facilities, portfolio acquisitions, securitizations, and other structured or specialty finance transactions.
• Lead client discussions and interviews with lenders, borrowers, originators, servicers, finance teams, risk management, internal audit, and other transaction stakeholders.
• Prepare and present diligence findings, risk assessments, and recommendations to senior client stakeholders.
• Own management-level relationships and serve as a trusted advisor throughout the engagement lifecycle.
• Manage multiple engagements, teams, timelines, and deliverables while maintaining responsibility for engagement economics and client expectations.

 

Talent Experience

• Manage, motivate, and mentor teams delivering complex financial services and lender due diligence engagements.
• Provide technical guidance and coaching in areas including credit risk, loan review, due diligence, financial controls, and risk assessment.
• Support the development of team members through on-the-job coaching, feedback, and training.
• Assist with developing training content and resources related to areas of subject-matter expertise. Manager - FSRC

Business Development

• Build and maintain relationships with financial institutions, lenders, investors, and other industry stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and support growth within the lender due diligence and financial services risk space.
• Communicate with prospects to understand their needs and develop appropriate scope, delivery plans, and budgets.
• Contribute to proposals, presentations, and other pursuit materials.
• Develop and share financial services and risk-related thought leadership.

 

Position Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in lender due diligence, transaction advisory, credit risk, loan review, structured finance, asset-backed securities (ABS), securitization, or asset-based lending within a consulting, accounting, financial institution, or specialty finance environment.
• Experience evaluating loan or asset portfolios, collateral, borrower financial information, underwriting practices, servicing operations, or credit/risk processes.
• Experience identifying and evaluating credit, collateral, operational, compliance, and control risks.
• Experience leading project-based work with defined milestones, deliverables, and timelines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple clients, projects, and teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Job-relevant certification such as CPA, CIA, CFA, or other relevant credential preferred.
• Ability to travel to meet client needs and work collaboratively both in-person and remotely.

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $101,000 - $203,000
