Regional Head of HR – Asia Pacific – Maersk Contract Logistics - Singapore OR Shanghai

Maersk is seeking an experienced People leader to lead the People Function agenda across Maersk Contract Logistics (MCL) in Asia Pacific.

This is one of the most significant regional HR leadership roles within Maersk's logistics organisation, supporting a business that is operating across 15 countries, 270 sites and a workforce of more than 21,000 employees and outsourced colleagues.

The successful candidate will partner directly with regional business leadership to drive organisational performance, workforce capability, leadership effectiveness and operational excellence across a diverse and highly complex logistics environment.

The role combines strategic business partnership with end-to-end accountability for frontline HR operations, requiring both commercial acumen and deep expertise in people leadership within large-scale operational businesses.

The Role

The Regional Head of People Function will lead the development and execution of the regional people strategy while ensuring excellence in HR delivery across all markets.

Working closely with business leaders and the global HR organisation, the role will shape organisational capability, strengthen leadership effectiveness and create an environment where employees and the business can perform at their best.

The position requires a leader who is equally comfortable influencing executive stakeholders, leading large operational HR teams and navigating complex employee and labour relations environments.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic People Leadership

• Develop and execute the regional People strategy aligned to MCL's growth ambitions.
• Act as a trusted advisor to the Regional Leadership Team on organisational effectiveness, capability building and workforce planning.
• Drive organisational design initiatives that improve efficiency, scalability and business performance.
• Lead succession planning and leadership development strategies for critical talent.
• Partner with business leaders to strengthen culture, engagement and employee experience.
• Support transformation initiatives, integrations and organisational change programmes.

Business Partnership

• Provide commercially focused advice and challenge to senior leaders.
• Translate business objectives into workforce and capability plans.
• Ensure talent strategies support current and future business requirements.
• Influence decisions around structure, productivity, talent investment and operating models.
• Drive leadership accountability for people outcomes.

Operational Excellence

• Lead end-to-end People Function delivery across Asia Pacific.
• Ensure consistent execution of recruitment, onboarding, reward, performance and employee lifecycle processes.
• Oversee employee relations and labour relations strategy across multiple jurisdictions.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable employment legislation and governance requirements.
• Lead workforce mobilisation activities associated with new customer implementations and site launches.
• Drive continuous improvement of HR systems, technology and reporting capabilities.

Leadership of the People Function

• Lead and develop a regional People Function organisation of approximately 120 colleagues.
• Build capability across the FLPO organisation and create a strong succession pipeline.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Ensure strong execution of annual people processes, including performance and talent reviews.

Candidate Profile

We are interested in leaders who combine strategic HR capability and business delivery, with proven success partnering at a strategic level with the business leaders while leading operational businesses at scale. The incumbent must have strong track record of having worked in transformational business with an ability to lead and inspire a significant group of senior people function colleagues.

Essential Experience

• Significant senior HR leadership experience gained across Asia Pacific.
• Experience supporting large, complex and geographically dispersed workforces.
• Strong track record partnering executive and regional leadership teams.
• Expertise across organisational design, workforce planning, talent management and succession planning.
• Experience leading employee relations and labour relations programmes in multi-country environments.
• Proven people leadership experience through large distributed HR organisations.
• Experience delivering organisational transformation and change initiatives.

Highly Desirable

• Background in logistics, supply chain, transportation, manufacturing, retail, eCommerce or other operationally intensive industries.
• Experience supporting frontline workforce populations.
• Experience supporting large outsourced or contingent workforce environments.
• Exposure to M&A, integrations or business transformation programmes.
