Description
• Leads by example and assist crew leader identify team needs with work truck usages, trailers in proper working condition, and ensures tools are ready and stored ready for daily tasks
• Use of heavy equipment operation to include Backhoe/Front end Loader, Bobcat, Bucket truck, Trailer towing 16ft gooseneck
• Performs basic carpentry, electrical and plumbing needs at park and athletic field restrooms to include working on sinks, toilets, drinking fountains, lights, etc. Installs and replaces worn down trash bins, picnic tables and other park related equipment as necessary
• Leads team members in mowing assignments (using Tractor/ Rough Mower) and edges park and ballfield grass areas; blows off sidewalks and walkways and collects trash and debris from grounds
• Leads team members in trees and bushes trimming with use of all equipment and maintenance checks with team members for use of a pole saw, chain saw and woodchipper, bucket truck and knuckle boom truck
• Performs applying appropriate fertilizers and pesticides and Vector Control measures as required
• Duck Pond Maintenance as required.
• Performs maintenance on athletic fields to include Verticutting, field leveling, water evacuation, and string lines foul line sprayer lines appropriate for sporting field set up and be on-call for post hour events.
• Maintains, set timing controls and troubleshoots sprinklers and irrigation lines; repairs and replaces parts as needed.
• Maintains Splash pads daily for leaks, replacing motors and PVC piping, preforms backwash and other daily functions
• Assist the crew leader in oversite of repairs and playgrounds replacement projects to included but not limited to basketball courts, playgrounds, lighting, sod and dirt work, fencing and control post, etc.
• Leads teams at Recreation Events for set-up, tear down and during event programing
• Stands in to perform duties of level 1 and level 2 parks teams in absence thereof.
• Performs other related duties as required or assigned for business needs.
• Experience with maintaining public spaces and athletic fields, including field markings for various sports.
• Chemical, pesticide, and herbicide application, use, and storage practices and procedures.
• Proficiency in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting landscape maintenance tools, equipment, and irrigation systems.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines efficiently.
• Strong teamwork, customer service, and communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and the public.
• Capable of working independently or as part of a team while ensuring compliance with safety and maintenance standards.
• Must possess a valid Class C State driver’s license, Class B Commercial driver’s license may be required depending on tasks assigned.
•TDA License, Certified pool Operator, Highly Recommended. Grounds Keeper University Certified, Heavy Equipment Certifications. as required within 1 Year.
