Description

This position is designated as a hybrid role based out of our headquarters near Portland, Oregon. The current expectation is for employees to work onsite four days per week, subject to change based on business needs. This in-office requirement may be adjusted at the discretion of the company.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Senior Director, North America Marketing to join Columbia Sportswear, one of the global leaders in outerwear and recently named one of the Top 10 most creative brands in the world. You’ll be responsible for building brand relevance, driving consumer demand and delivering integrated marketing strategies across the United States and Canada for the Columbia brand.

Columbia Sportswear takes its marketing as seriously as we take our gear. Everything we do is in support of our brand idea: that we make the best gear on the market for whatever mother nature can throw at you.

We’re looking for a strategic leader for the North America region, reporting directly to our SVP & Global Head of Marketing. This leader will lead brand activation and communications across PR, partnerships, retail & wholesale marketing, working closely with our Sr. Director of Performance Marketing.

This role is an opportunity to lead the next phase of the Columbia brand for North America as we accelerate to even greater heights in our mission to be the no.1 brand in the outdoors globally.

We’re looking for someone strategic, smart and tough as a pair of Bugaboots, with as much energy as the Amazepuff Jacket

If this sounds like the challenge for you, here’s what you’ll do and what we’re looking for:

HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Develop and execute the North America marketing strategy, translating enterprise and brand objectives into integrated regional marketing plans that drive consumer engagement, revenue growth, and market share.

  • Provide leadership and direction for a significant portion of the marketing function in North America through senior leaders, managers, and cross-functional teams, ensuring organizational effectiveness and high performance.

  • Lead the development of long-term marketing strategies and operating plans across brand communications, digital marketing, social media, PR, retail marketing, wholesale marketing, partnerships, events, and consumer experiences.

  • Partner with Brand, Merchandising, Sales, Direct-to-Consumer, and Finance leadership to align marketing investments with business priorities and growth opportunities.

  • Define regional marketing priorities and resource allocation, balancing brand-building initiatives with commercial performance objectives.

  • Evaluate market trends, consumer insights, competitive activity, and business performance to identify opportunities, mitigate risks, and influence enterprise decision-making.

  • Lead annual and multi-year marketing planning, budget development, and investment optimization for North America, ensuring effective use of resources and measurable business impact.

  • Represent the North America region with executive stakeholders, influencing enterprise strategies and ensuring regional priorities are incorporated into global planning.

  • Establish success metrics and governance processes to measure marketing effectiveness, drive accountability, and improve return on investment.

YOU ARE

  • A strategic marketing executive with a strong commercial mindset and the ability to connect brand strategy to business results.

  • A proven leader of leaders who develops high-performing teams and fosters collaboration across complex organizations.

  • An influential communicator who can align diverse stakeholder groups around a common vision and priorities.

  • A decisive and analytical problem solver who balances long-term strategy with operational execution.

  • A recognized business partner who effectively navigates ambiguity and leads change across functions and geographies.

  • An advocate for consumers, customers, the North America marketplace, and the team who brings the brand to life every day.

  • Able to read a compass on team hikes. Seriously, someone didn’t last week and nearly got mauled by a bear.

YOU HAVE

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 15+ years of progressively responsible marketing leadership experience, including responsibility for large-scale regional or enterprise marketing programs.

  • 10+ years of people leadership experience, including leading managers and senior leaders.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated marketing strategies across multiple channels and consumer touchpoints.

  • Broad industry knowledge, commercial acumen, and experience influencing strategic business decisions.

  • Experience managing significant budgets and optimizing investment decisions to achieve business objectives.

  • Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive outcomes across a complex matrixed organization.

  • Ability to anticipate market shifts and develop forward-looking strategies that position the business for long-term success.

  • Ability to travel as business needs require.

  • Desire to touch grass (or sand or snow) and enjoy Mother’s Nature adventures and misadventures.

As Ma Boyle always said "Early to bed, early to rise. Work like hell and advertise
