Role Summary
The Rivian Supply Chain team is looking for highly motivated technical professionals to drive value through expert cost analysis. As a Senior Cost Engineer, Systems you will play a pivotal role in the Rivian Cost Engineering organization. The role will be responsible for building end to end automation to accurately analyze the costs associated with components across Rivian vehicles. Your expertise in CAD Design, System Design, Data Analysis and Cost Estimation will be crucial in ensuring the Cost Engineering team keeps pace with fast moving Engineering and Procurement organizations.
This position is based remotely in Mexico and reports to the Senior Manager, Cost Engineering Vehicle Hardware & CE Systems.

Como ingeniero/a de costos - sistemas sénior, desempeñará un papel fundamental en la organización Cost Engineering de Rivian. Esta persona tendrá la responsabilidad de desarrollar una automatización integral que permita analizar con precisión los costos asociados a los componentes de todos los vehículos Rivian. Su experiencia en el diseño CAD y de sistemas, el análisis de datos y la estimación de costos será fundamental para garantizar que el equipo de Cost Engineering pueda seguir el ritmo de las organizaciones Engineering y Procurement, en constante evolución.
Este puesto está ubicado de manera remota en México y reporta al gerente sénior de Cost Engineering sobre hardware de vehículos y sistemas.
Responsibilities
Systems Knowledge:
Integrate PLM (3D Experience/CATIA) with Cost Estimating tools to ensure CAD data flows seamlessly to reduce non-value add work of moving data from one place to another.
Analyze accuracy and structure of CAD and BOM data and fix any issues before building Cost Estimates.
Utilize information ranging from written assumptions, sample parts, CAD models and engineering drawings.
Work with the PLM team to identify and address repeated issues that are resulting in inefficiencies to optimize the process.
Work with Cost Engineering Lead of Cost Estimating Software and 3rd party Software vendors to address any issues on the Cost Estimating Software side that are resulting in delays or errors.
Continuously analyze data to highlight trends to Cost Engineers and Managers for future cost
Project Management: Assume ownership of projects; plan milestones and identify potential risks to ensure timely delivery of cost models within agreed completion dates. Proactively manage task completion and regularly update cross-functional teams on project status, timing, resource allocation, challenges, and the likelihood of on-time, high-quality delivery.
Knowledge Base: Independently applies manufacturing principles and maintains a working knowledge of material properties, key manufacturing processes, and cost drivers without frequent guidance.
Presentation & Storytelling: Builds and presents a compelling business case to explain component cost analysis and persuade stakeholders to use the output to generate financial opportunities.
Technical Skills: Demonstrates advanced usage of aPriori and/or Costdata, autonomously modifying cost estimate process setups and options while leveraging the full toolchain (PLM, CATIA, etc.). Create initial Cost Estimate of multiple vehicle commodities especially mechanical components – Stampings, Injection Molding, High Pressure Die Casting, Extrusion, Forging, Machining, etc.
Organizational Influence & Outreach: Advises outcomes to direct counterparts and uses data-driven insights to directly influence the work of peers.
Direction: Manages day-to-day responsibilities and assigned projects with minimal guidance, identifying and managing personal priorities in urgent situations.

Colaborar con el equipo de PLM para identificar y abordar los problemas recurrentes que generen ineficiencias, con el objetivo de optimizar el proceso.
Colaborar con el responsable de Cost Engineering sobre el software de estimación de costos y con proveedores de software de terceros, a fin de abordar cualquier problema con el software de estimación de costos que esté provocando demoras o errores.
Analizar continuamente datos para señalar las tendencias a los ingenieros y responsables de costos, con vistas a futuros costos.
Gestión de proyectos: asumir la responsabilidad de los proyectos; planear hitos e identificar riesgos potenciales para garantizar la entrega puntual de los modelos de costos dentro de las fechas de finalización acordadas. Gestionar de forma proactiva la finalización de tareas e informar periódicamente a equipos multifuncionales sobre el estado del proyecto, los plazos, la dotación de recursos, los desafíos y la probabilidad de una entrega a tiempo y de alta calidad.
Base de conocimientos: aplicar de forma autónoma los principios de manufactura y poseer conocimientos prácticos de las propiedades de los materiales, los procesos de manufactura clave y los procesos de costos, sin necesidad de instrucciones frecuentes.
Presentación y narración: desarrollar y presentar un caso de negocio atractivo para explicar el análisis de costos de los componentes y convencer a las partes interesadas para que utilicen los resultados para generar oportunidades financieras.
Habilidades técnicas: demostrar un uso avanzado de aPriori o Costdata, modificando de forma autónoma los ajustes y opciones de los procesos de estimación de costos, aprovechando a la vez la cadena de herramientas completa (PLM, CATIA, etc.). Elaborar una estimación de costos inicial de diversos insumos de automoción, especialmente componentes mecánicos: estampación, moldeo por inyección, fundición a presión, extrusión, forja, mecanizado, etc.
Influencia organizacional y divulgación: informar de los resultados a sus homólogos directos y apoyarse en conclusiones basadas en datos para ejercer influencia directa en el trabajo de sus colegas.
Dirección: gestionar las responsabilidades del día a día y los proyectos asignados con un mínimo de orientación, identificando y gestionando las prioridades personales en situaciones de urgencia.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
Domain Expertise: Understands how their work informs sourcing decisions, design trade-offs, and supplier negotiations, providing foundational data-driven input to cross-functional teams.
Commodity-Specific Experience:Stampings, Injection Molding, High Pressure Die Casting, Extrusion, Forging, Machining, etc.
Technical Skills: Advanced user of various systems with the ability to conduct larger-scale gap analysis to identify focus areas and outliers.
Communication: Confidently fields questions from peers and is learning to tailor their communication style to different audiences.
Execution: Proactively communicates issues that have an impact outside of Cost Engineering, flagging risks and opportunities to the relevant teams.
Operational Style: Consistently uses first principles to drive change and responds actively to feedback from senior team members to close skill gaps.
Travel Requirements: Ability and willingness to travel as needed based on business needs, expected to average up to 25% .

Necesidad de viajar: capacidad y disponibilidad para viajar según se requiera en función de las necesidades del negocio, con un promedio esperado de hasta el 25 %.
Pay Disclosure
The salary range for this role is 592,100 MXN - 740,138 MXN annually. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.
The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
