Your Role as a Construction Accountant
As a Construction Accountant, you will manage the financial processes for assigned construction projects, helping ensure subcontractor payments, monthly billings, payables, and receivables are processed accurately and on time.
Working closely with project teams and subcontractors, you’ll prepare and review financial activity, maintain supporting documentation, provide guidance on accounting procedures, and identify opportunities to improve processes. Your attention to detail and financial expertise will help support the financial success of Thompson Thrift’s construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, analyze, review, and process financial activity for assigned construction projects in accordance with accounting principles and company standards
- Collect, review, and process subcontractor pay applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
- Prepare and submit monthly construction project billings with all required supporting documentation
- Partner with project teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of project payables and receivables throughout the project lifecycle
- Communicate with subcontractors to provide guidance and ensure adherence to company accounting procedures
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, increase efficiency, and resolve potential issues
- Support accurate financial reporting and cost management across assigned construction projects
Our Ideal Candidate for this Role
Education
- High school diploma required
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field
