This job is responsible for defining an architectural vision and solution that supports the strategic outcomes of the Business' Products and Services. Key responsibilities include defining the target operating environment, designing for client resiliency, assisting with solution design, and defining non-functional requirements. Job expectations include working with stakeholders and service providers aligned to the Business' strategic objectives, evaluating the impact of strategic design decisions, and contributing to the architecture roadmap.
The Enterprise Data Discovery, Protection & Privacy (EDPP) team is seeking a highly experienced Architecture and Technology Evaluation Lead to drive the assessment and adoption of next-generation technology platforms that strengthen the firm's data protection, privacy, privacy, governance, and discovery capabilities.
This role serves as the technical lead for evaluating innovative solutions from fintech partners and industry providers across Data Discovery, Data Protection, Data Privacy, Data Governance, AI/ML, and Generative AI domains. The individual will be responsible for defining evaluation strategies, establishing success metrics, designing proof-of-concept frameworks, and conducting architecture assessments that inform strategic build-vs-buy decisions.
As a hands-on architecture leader, the candidate will work across engineering, security, data management, and cloud teams to establish evaluation environments, navigate enterprise governance processes, and ensure secure onboarding of emerging technologies. Responsibilities include enabling integration through APIs, event-driven architecture, cloud services, Kafka-based messaging platforms, and existing enterprise frameworks.
The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in technology strategy, architecture design, AI-driven innovation, and product evaluation methodologies. Regular interaction with senior leadership is expected to communicate progress, risks, findings, and strategic recommendations. Success in this role requires balancing rapid experimentation with disciplined architecture governance, enabling the organization to make informed technology investment decisions while accelerating innovation.
Responsibilities:
- Works across the business, operations and technology to create the solution intent and architectural vision for complex solutions and prioritize functional and non-functional requirements into a technology backlog to enable the technology roadmap and functionality to support evolving capabilities and services
- Contributes to the creation of the architecture roadmap of defined domains (Business, Application, Data, and Technology) in support of the product roadmap and the development of best practices including standardized templates
- Clarifies the architecture, assists with system design to support implementation, and provides solution options to resolve any architectural impediments
- Facilitates solution driven discussions, leads the design of complex architectures, and finds creative solutions through knowledge of domain, practical experiments, and proof of concepts while ensuring architecture is flexible, modular, and adaptable
- Educates team members on the technology practices, standardization strategies, and best practices to create innovative solutions
- Supports the team as needed to select the technology stack required for solutions and helps select preferred technology products
- Performs design and code reviews to ensure all non-functional requirements are sufficiently met (for example, security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability)
- Lead evaluation of emerging technologies and determine best-fit solutions for Enterprise Data Discovery, Protection, Privacy, and Governance capabilities.
- Drive technical product assessment and architecture decision-making using established frameworks such as Alternative Architecture Analysis (AAA), Proofs of Concept (POCs), vendor assessments, and market comparisons.
- Define end-to-end evaluation strategy, success criteria, architecture patterns, and technical roadmaps for new product onboarding and adoption.
- Deliver high-quality architecture solutions for complex, multi-generational programs spanning multiple business domains and technology platforms.
- Establish architecture standards, integration patterns, and security controls to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, and data governance requirements.
- Lead build-versus-buy evaluations and provide executive recommendations supported by business value, technical feasibility, risk analysis, and total cost of ownership considerations.
- Collaborate closely with business, engineering, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and data management teams to accelerate evaluation and commercialization of new capabilities.
- Provide thought leadership in AI/ML, Generative AI, cloud-native architecture, data protection, data privacy, and data intelligence platforms.
Required Qualifications:
- achelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- Strong expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Generative AI technologies, including architecture, evaluation, and adoption strategies.
- Deep understanding of enterprise architecture principles, application integration patterns, and distributed systems design.
- Proficiency in API management, API security, event-driven architectures, data pipelines, and data/insights platforms.
- Proven ability to design and deliver solutions for large-scale, highly resilient, high-performance systems serving complex business and regulatory requirements.
- Experience leading technology evaluations and presenting clear architectural recommendations, comparative analysis, tradeoffs, and target use cases to executive audiences.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, security architecture, data governance, and privacy-by-design principles.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and executive presentation skills.
- Experience working within regulated financial services or other highly regulated industries.
Desired Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related discipline.
- Experience across Global Banking, Capital Markets, Wealth Management, Risk, Compliance, and Enterprise Data domains.
- Knowledge of emerging fintech ecosystems and technology trends related to data governance, privacy, discovery, security, and AI platforms.
- Experience with cloud-native microservices architectures, container orchestration platforms (Kubernetes/OpenShift), and platform engineering practices.
- Hands-on development experience using modern programming languages such as Java, Python, Scala, Go, or similar technologies.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevSecOps, and automated deployment frameworks.
- Experience evaluating and integrating SaaS, COTS, and enterprise data management platforms.
- Industry certifications in Cloud, Architecture, Security, AI, or Data Management disciplines.
