Intermediate Instrumentation Designer

Join Our Team
TWD is an engineering, procurement and construction management consulting company serving the energy and infrastructure sectors. We support projects in refining, pipelines, terminals, renewables, power, food and beverage, and chemical processing.
We are looking for an Intermediate Instrumentation Designer to join our Sarnia team. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys hands-on design work, collaborating with several engineering disciplines and supporting projects from design through execution.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare instrumentation and control drawings, layouts, schematics and wiring documentation.
  • Develop and update instrument indexes, I/O lists, cable schedules, datasheets and related design documents.
  • Review P&IDs, equipment information, specifications and client requirements.
  • Coordinate instrumentation design work with process, electrical, mechanical, piping, civil and structural teams.
  • Work with engineers and other designers to identify and resolve design issues.
  • Participate in design reviews and project coordination meetings.
  • Complete assigned work within project schedule, budget and quality requirements.
  • Review deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide field, construction, vendor and commissioning support when required.
What You Bring
  • A diploma, certificate or degree in Instrumentation, Controls, Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field. Equivalent experience may also be considered.
  • Four to nine years of relevant instrumentation design experience.
  • Experience preparing instrumentation and control deliverables for industrial or multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation systems, control systems and electrical interfaces.
  • Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Experience using relevant instrumentation design and engineering software.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • The ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a project team.
