Job Summary

A Challenge Electric Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting electrical systems, components, and equipment in industrial, manufacturing, and construction environments. This role performs preventive maintenance, supports machinery repairs, interprets technical drawings and schematics, and works with industrial controls, PLCs, motors, low voltage systems, and power distribution systems. The position requires a self-directed individual who can manage projects with minimal supervision while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electrical systems, components, and equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
• Diagnose electrical issues and conduct inspections, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
• Plan, install, and repair electrical systems and wiring.
• Work with industrial controls, Ethernet systems, PLCs, motors, cable tray systems, and electrical voltages up to 480VAC.
• Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and National Electrical Code standards.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Job Requirements

• Journeyman Electrician card or 3 to 5 years of equivalent industrial electrical experience; completion of an apprenticeship program preferred.
• Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, controls, PLCs, motors, low-voltage systems, and power distribution.
• Ability to bend conduit, perform electrical terminations, and safely use hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb, bend, squat, work at heights up to 50 feet, and safely use ladders.
• Basic math skills and ability to follow directions.
• Team-oriented with strong safety awareness and commitment to reporting safety concerns.
• High school diploma or GED, at least 18 years old, and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• OSHA 10/30 certification, Fire Protection License, and Data Fiber experience preferred.

Specific vision abilities include the ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and equipment diagrams, as well as safely perform detailed electrical installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
