Mechanical Engineering Team Lead
Lexington, KY (Onsite) | $140,000–$160,000
About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer ready to step into a leadership role, guiding a team of engineers and designers on large-scale mechanical building system projects. This position currently oversees 2–3 direct reports, with growth potential to lead a team of up to 10 engineers and designers.
What You'll Do
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of mechanical engineers and designers
- Design mechanical building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and temperature controls
- Plan project resources, manage schedules, and oversee budgets
- Drive business development, marketing, and client relationship efforts
- Manage client accounts and project delivery from concept to completion
- Apply life-cycle costing analysis and HVAC modeling/simulation software
What You Bring
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state, with the ability to obtain KY licensure within 6 months and additional licenses by reciprocity
- 15–20 years of experience designing mechanical building systems in a consulting environment
- Advanced knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and temperature control systems
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills
- Proven experience in marketing, sales, and business development
- Solid client and project management background
- LEED accreditation is a plus
