About Our Family
We are a dynamic, active family of six based in Austin, TX, balancing busy careers, school schedules, and the everyday rhythm of family life. Our family includes three young children at home, ages 6, 4, and 3, each with their own personalities, interests, and energy, along with an older child who is grown and in college. Our days are full, and we are looking for someone who can help bring structure, organization, and ease to the many moving pieces of our household.
One parent is the founder of a growing business and travels frequently for work, while the other is a consultant. We value our time together as a family and are intentional about protecting our afternoons and evenings so we can be present with our children. We are looking for someone who can step in behind the scenes, anticipate what needs to happen, and create the systems and routines that allow our family life to run smoothly.
Our home is warm, collaborative, and laid-back, but we also appreciate someone who takes pride in their work and treats our household with the same care and ownership they would bring to their own. The right person will become a trusted partner in our family’s day-to-day operations — someone who notices the details, brings ideas to the table, and genuinely enjoys making a home function at its best.
Who We're Looking For
We are looking for a seasoned household professional who takes genuine pride in creating order and supporting a family. You are someone who doesn’t need a daily task list or constant direction — you naturally assess what needs to be done, create a plan, and follow through. You enjoy building systems, maintaining routines, and finding ways to make a household run more efficiently.
You are proactive, organized, and highly reliable. You walk into a home and instinctively understand what will make the day easier: what needs to be prepared, what needs attention, and what details might otherwise be missed. You take ownership from start to finish and don’t just complete tasks — you think about the bigger picture and how everything connects.
Communication is a key part of this role. We value someone who keeps us informed, communicates openly, and takes ownership when something doesn’t go as planned. You are comfortable working independently while also being a collaborative partner who welcomes feedback and problem-solves alongside us.
The ideal candidate is:
- A true household professional: You view household management as a career and take pride in the work you do.
- Systems-minded and organized: You enjoy creating simple, sustainable systems that keep a busy home running smoothly.
- Self-directed and proactive: You see what needs to happen and make it happen without waiting to be asked.
- Reliable and communicative: You understand that consistency, follow-through, and clear communication build trust.
- Warm and adaptable: You enjoy being around children, can match the energy of a busy household, and know when to step in and when to give space.
Experience matters, but the most important qualities are ownership, maturity, and genuine enthusiasm for this type of work. We are looking for someone who wants to become a long-term part of our family and make a meaningful impact in our home.
Key Responsibilities:
This role focuses on keeping the household running smoothly day to day, with a few core priorities that anchor the work. Other responsibilities support the overall flow of the home and are handled as time allows or on an as-needed basis. We care more about the right things getting done – not checking all the boxes.
Daily Must-Haves:
- Reset and tidy main living spaces, including the kitchen, ensuring it is prepped for dinner prep and cleaned before you leave for the day
- Load/unload dishwasher, wipe surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas, unpack school lunches, hand-wash plastic items
- Do children's laundry 1-2 times per week -- wash, fold, put away
- Supervise children, bringing the FUN while keeping everyone safe - our kids are very energetic and incredibly happy.
- Pick up toys, blankets, and scattered items around the house
- Collaborate on meal planning and prep (e.g., basic meal prep or finishing cooking tasks)
- Clean kitchen post-prep and manage kitchen tidiness
Those core daily and weekly responsibilities come first, but once handled, we welcome support in other areas based on time, energy, and household needs that week, including:
Household Management & Organization
- Create and/or maintain household organization systems (closets, storage, pantry, toys)
- Reset and tidy rooms daily; maintain overall neatness, ensure home is prepped for cleaning services on Fridays
- Oversee household schedules via Google calendar
- Prepare for family events and holidays
- Prepare and coordinate donation drop offs, pick ups and Amazon returns
- Support packing/unpacking the kids’ items for travel or seasonal transitions
- Supervise or coordinate with service providers/vendors (e.g., handymen, cleaners, landscapers)
- Maintain indoor plants
Inventory Management & Errands
- Track and restock pantry, fridge, toiletries, household supplies
- Create and manage running household supply lists
- Coordinate and manage household orders (Amazon, Costco, Target, etc.)
- Run errands: grocery shopping, returns, gift shopping
- Handle package pickup, mail sorting, returns, deliveries and break down boxes
Meal Planning & Preparation
- Plan and prep healthy meals/snacks for adults and/or kids
- Shop for groceries and meal-related items
- Follow dietary needs and family preferences (gluten-free, organic, etc.)
Laundry & Linen Care
- Manage linens: rotate bedding, refresh towels, restock essentials
- Keep laundry areas tidy and well-stocked with supplies
- Handle special care for delicates or uniforms
Vendor & Property Oversight
- Schedule and supervise service providers (cleaners, contractors, landscapers)
- Research and coordinate repairs, maintenance, and quotes
- Serve as primary contact for vendors or guests
Family Support & Child Assistance
- Assist with school/activity pick-ups or drop-offs
- Afternoon supervision, playtime, or back-up childcare
- Prep backpacks, clothing, or snacks for school
- Help with child-related laundry or errands
Deep Cleaning & Special Projects
- Tackle occasional deep cleans (fridge, oven, baseboards, etc.)
- Maintain and refresh specific zones (entryways, garage, mudroom)
- Clean humidifiers, washing machines, and air purifiers monthly
- Organize special projects: toy storage, seasonal decorations, gear rotation
Administrative & Personal Assistant Support
- Potential for additional errands specific to mom’s business, as time and interest permits
