Mō te tūranga | About the Role
The Product Owner is the owner/operator running a ‘business’ that is accountable for delivering a product/service on a day-to-day and sprint-to-sprint basis, working with an agile development team.
As Product Owner, you will work closely with internal and external customers to understand their needs and pain points. You will use data driven decisioning to power the product/service forward. Your primary role will be to maximise the value of this product/service and to represent the customer in the team, thus bridging the gap between product strategy and development.
You will help lead an agile development team. You will be accountable for managing scope and generally arranging and leading agile ceremonies, helping to define and size stories and prioritising team backlog. You will help streamline execution, and promote continuous delivery, while maintaining the technical integrity of the product/service.

This is an autonomous role, that collaborates with Senior Leadership, SME’s, their team, other POs, and Product Managers to ensure alignment and strategic direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with internal & external customers to understand their needs and pain points and use
- data driven decisioning to power the product/service forward
- Accountable for managing scope, prioritisation and ensuring good quality agile ceremonies. Help
- streamline execution, and promote continuous delivery, while maintaining the technical integrity of the
- product/service
- Manages supplier, business partner and third-party relationships where necessary
- Owns the build, run, enhance and retire lifecycle of the product/service
- Leads the Quarterly Planning Process (QPP) with the team, providing a high level, sized view of
- deliverables for the coming period with confidence levels.
- Responsible for planning to squad financials, quantifying effort required and value delivered
- Perform related duties as assigned, within the scope of role and as required by senior leadership.
Outcomes / Deliverables
- Define the vision, own the roadmap and backlog, effectively managing trade-off decisions, whilst managing dependencies and any unplanned work.
- Collaborates with Senior Leadership, SME’s, their team, other POs, and Product Managers to ensure alignment and strategic direction
- Managing and tracking the delivery progress against agreed roadmap and ensure contribution is aligned to the objectives of the organisation

- Extensive experience with the Agile product owner craft and best practices
- Ability to understand complex challenges/concepts and articulate these in a simplified, easy to understand manner
- Experience with iterative, continuous delivery and visualisation methods for communicating roadmaps
- Experience with managing scope and prioritisation, making data-based decisions.
