The Medical Fellow collaborates closely with the Clinical and Account Services teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of project scope and expectations. Their primary responsibility is to develop educational content aligned with clients’ strategic objectives, tailored for specific audiences (including healthcare providers, patients, and internal pharmaceutical teams). Leveraging their clinical knowledge from an advanced degree program, the Medical Fellow ensures that content adheres to client, legal, and regulatory requirements. This position supports one or more senior members of the Clinical department and collaborates with colleagues in other departments to complete cross-functional projects.

The Medical Fellow utilizes their advanced scientific education to effectively research, analyze, and communicate complex concepts related to disease states and pharmaceutical products. The Medical Fellow is expected to become familiar with the brand, science, and strategic issues for the products on which they work. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong prioritization, time management, and relationship management skills, keen attention to editorial, reference, and annotation details, and the ability to quickly process information for accurate translation and delivery to target audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced scientific education to demonstrate a strong understanding of assigned therapeutic areas and pharmaceutical brands.
  • Independently and critically evaluate scientific literature, ensuring accurate referencing and alignment with client standards.
  • Develop high-quality, clinically accurate educational materials—including PowerPoint presentations, interactive PDFs, video scripts, eLearning modules, and more—tailored to healthcare providers, patients, or internal teams.
  • Determine relevant scientific data to include in deliverables, ensuring alignment with client objectives and strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the agency and participate in internal and client meetings as assigned.
  • Understand project scope and allocated hours; proactively flag potential out-of-scope requests.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks and leverage available resources (e.g., manager, teammates, shared documents, online tools) to problem-solve effectively.
  • Accurately track and report time worked in accordance with company policy.
  • Perform administrative and ad hoc duties as needed.

Ideal Experience / Candidate Profile

  • Advanced medical or scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD preferred).
  • Prior experience in medical writing within a healthcare communications or marketing agency (internship, preceptorship, or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Exceptional writing and editorial skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines across individual and team-based projects.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
