Role Overview
The Construction PIC is the Person in Charge of structural and fabrication scopes during the Drillship preparation for this development project. This role is project-based (not rotational) and embedded within the Rig and Upgrade Team to manage planning + execution of construction modifications required for the rig’s contract start in Q1 2026.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise construction, piping, and structural modification work - Ensure compliance with approved drawings, work packs, and ITPs - Coordinate yard teams, contractors, and vendors during upgrades - Oversee welding/fabrication quality and liaise with class/flag authorities - Ensure safe integration of construction activities with ongoing rig operations
Background / Candidate Profile
- Engineering or construction management qualification - 10+ years offshore construction/rig upgrade/shipyard experience - Expertise in offshore steel/piping/fabrication methods - Strong knowledge of class/flag/state requirements for offshore assets - Previous supervisory/project role during rig upgrades or SPS projects
Project-Specific Context
- Project involves rig preparation for drilling 18 deepwater wells in Mexico’s first ultra-deepwater development - Fabrication already underway for FPSO topsides, FSO mooring turret, subsea equipment - Construction PIC ensures rig modifications meet operational, safety, and regulatory standards before drilling - Role is central to the success of rig readiness for 2026 start-up
