The role will develop and maintain financial models, analyze project and transaction economics, evaluate key assumptions and sensitivities, and provide analytical support to the Product Origination, Transaction Team, and investor-facing teams throughout the investment lifecycle.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and analyze financial models for renewable energy and tax credit investment opportunities, including project economics, cash flows, tax benefits, investment returns, and other key transaction metrics.
  • Support underwriting of prospective investments by reviewing project assumptions, revenue structures, operating expenses, capital requirements, financing terms, tax attributes, and other inputs affecting transaction economics.
  • Develop and maintain forecasts for project performance, investment returns, tax credit delivery, cash funding requirements, and other financial metrics used in transaction evaluation and planning.
  • Perform valuation analyses to assess investment economics, pricing, expected returns, and relative attractiveness of prospective opportunities.
  • Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to evaluate the impact of changes in key assumptions, including project performance, timing, pricing, costs, tax benefits, and transaction structure.
  • Review sponsor and third-party financial models for consistency, accuracy, and reasonableness and reconcile model outputs to supporting diligence materials.
  • Support the Product Origination team in evaluating new opportunities and developing preliminary economic proposals for prospective transactions.
  • Prepare clear analytical summaries, model outputs, charts, and supporting materials for Investment Committee presentations, investor materials, and internal transaction discussions.
  • Coordinate with Product Origination, Transaction Team, tax, accounting, legal, and other internal and external stakeholders to incorporate diligence findings and updated assumptions into financial analyses.
  • Assist with investor and transaction requests by producing timely financial analysis, scenario comparisons, and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain organized model files, assumptions, source data, and supporting documentation in accordance with RJREI processes and documentation standards.
  • Monitor renewable energy and tax credit market developments, pricing trends, and relevant financial or regulatory considerations that may affect underwriting assumptions and valuation.
  • Support ad hoc analysis, portfolio planning, forecasting, and other initiatives critical to the Product Origination team and broader RJREI platform.

Knowledge & General Skills

  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to build, review, and interpret detailed financial models.
  • Working knowledge of financial, accounting, tax, valuation, and investment concepts; familiarity with renewable energy or project finance concepts is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze financial information, identify key value drivers and risks, and translate complex model outputs into clear conclusions.
  • Understanding of underwriting, forecasting, valuation, scenario analysis, and sensitivity analysis techniques.
  • Strong quantitative problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify inconsistencies in assumptions, calculations, and model outputs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize analytical findings for senior team members and transaction stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and appropriate documentation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to integrity, accountability, collaboration, intellectual curiosity, and high-quality work product.

Qualifications / Education

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in renewable energy, project finance, investment banking, accounting, valuation, corporate finance, financial analysis, or a comparable analytical role.  Candidates with more extensive experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, reviewing, or overseeing complex financial models, performing valuation and forecasting analyses, and evaluating investment or project economics.
  • Experience with renewable energy infrastructure, tax credit investments, partnership structures, transfer transactions, or project finance is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including experience developing and evaluating sophisticated financial models

  • Detail-oriented and disciplined, with a commitment to producing accurate, well-supported analysis and high-quality work product.
