Field Service Engineer 

Based in Denmark 

POSITION SUMMARY 

As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Pentair Sustainable Process Solutions equipment across Denmark and occasionally internationally. 

You will work independently at customer sites and act as Pentair's technical representative, ensuring safe, reliable, and high-quality service delivery. The role requires a strong combination of mechanical, electrical, and process knowledge, together with excellent customer communication skills. 

REPORTING LINE 

The Field Service Engineer reports to the Field Service Operations Team Lead, based in Venlo, The Netherlands. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Service & Maintenance 

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on biogas upgrading, CO₂ recovery, refrigeration, compression, and related process installations. 

• Execute troubleshooting activities and identify root causes of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and process-related issues. 

• Carry out repairs, modifications, inspections, and service interventions in accordance with work orders and company procedures. 

• Support commissioning, startup, testing, and performance verification of new installations. 

• Provide technical support and recommendations to customers regarding maintenance, operation, and optimization of installed equipment. 

Planning & Execution 

• Prepare service visits by reviewing work orders, technical documentation, drawings, and required parts. 

• Ensure all necessary tools, materials, spare parts, and safety equipment are available before mobilization. 

• Coordinate site activities efficiently while minimizing customer downtime. 

• Keep service schedules updated and communicate any deviations, risks, or additional work requirements. 

Customer Support 

• Build strong relationships with customers through professional communication and technical expertise. 

• Act as the first technical point of contact during site visits. 

• Identify service opportunities and improvement recommendations that create value for the customer. 

• Provide clear verbal and written updates regarding progress, findings, and recommendations. 

Documentation & Reporting 

• Complete detailed service reports, maintenance records, and timesheets accurately and on time. 

• Document findings, corrective actions, and recommendations using Pentair service systems. 

• Report non-conformities, safety observations, and improvement opportunities. 

Health, Safety & Environment 

• Ensure full compliance with Pentair and customer HSE requirements. 

• Actively promote a strong safety culture and lead by example. 

• Conduct risk assessments and follow permit-to-work procedures when required. 

• Stop work immediately in unsafe situations and escalate concerns appropriately. 

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times. 

On-Call Support 

• Participate in the field service on-call rotation to support customers outside regular business hours when required. 

COMMUNICATION 

The position requires regular interaction with: 

• Customers, operators, maintenance personnel and contractors 

• Internal service coordinators and planning teams 

• Project Management and Engineering teams 

• Technical Support specialists 

• Spare Parts and Supply Chain teams 

Fluent communication in English is required. 

Knowledge of additional languages such as Danish, German, Dutch, French, Italian, or Swedish is considered an advantage. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Education 

• Technical degree or vocational qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Refrigeration Technology, or equivalent. 

Experience 

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a Field Service Engineer, Service Technician, Commissioning Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or similar technical role. 

• Experience working with industrial process equipment in customer-facing environments. 

• Experience with international field service activities is considered a plus. 

Technical Competencies 

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills. 

• Knowledge of pumps, compressors, valves, rotating equipment, and industrial process systems. 

• Understanding of electrical systems, instrumentation, sensors, motors, and frequency drives. 

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and P&IDs. 

• Basic knowledge of PLC systems and industrial automation. 

• Experience with refrigeration, gas compression, biogas, CO₂ recovery, or related process technologies is highly desirable. 

• Familiarity with pressure equipment and industrial gas systems is advantageous.

REQUIREMENTS 

• Valid driver's license. 

• Willingness to travel frequently within Denmark and internationally when required. 

• Ability to work at industrial sites and occasionally outside normal working hours. 

• Fluent in Danish and English, both written and spoken, other languages are a pre. 

• Relevant safety certifications (e.g., VCA, working at heights, electrical safety) are advantageous.
