Job Description:
At Regions, the Business Systems Analyst conducts business process analysis, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefits analysis in an effort to align information technology solutions with business initiatives. This position may function as liaison between the line of business and the Information Technology (IT) department.
Primary Responsibilities
- Formulates/defines specifications for operating software programming applications or modifies/maintains complex existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from programs
- Analyzes and evaluates existing or proposed systems and devises computer programs, systems, and related procedures to process data
- Prepares charts and diagrams to assist in problem analysis and submits recommendations for solution
- Prepares program specifications and diagrams and develops coding logic flowcharts
- Encodes, tests, debugs, and installs the operating programs and procedures in coordination with computer operations and user departments
- Reviews progress and evaluates results
- Reports inconsistencies to the attention of management and suggest problem resolutions and business process improvements
- Certain business groups may require on call support rotation after hours and/or weekends
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED and seven (7) years of related experience
- Or Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related experience
Preferences
- Banking or financial services industry experience
- Experience providing application support to include troubleshooting
- Experience with business intelligence tools
- Familiarity with agile and/or waterfall methodologies

Additional Job Description
This position may support the RegionsConnects Application Support Team, providing operational and technical support for a critical customer-facing banking platform. The associate will serve as a key liaison between business partners, end users, and technology teams to ensure application stability, timely issue resolution, and an exceptional user experience.
Additional Responsibilities may include:
- Providing application support and troubleshooting assistance for RegionsConnects users across the organization.
- Investigating production issues, analyzing data, and coordinating resolution efforts with technology and business partners.
- Performing production validation activities following system implementations, maintenance events, and releases, including occasional after-hours and weekend support.
- Monitoring application performance and identifying trends, risks, or recurring issues that may impact users or operational processes.
- Conducting research and analysis to determine root causes of incidents and recommending process or system improvements.
- Supporting testing activities, user acceptance testing, and implementation efforts for system enhancements and projects.
- Developing and maintaining operational procedures, support documentation, and reporting related to application health and performance.
- Partnering with business stakeholders to understand operational needs and translate them into effective technology solutions.
- Managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail and customer service standards.
Candidates should be comfortable participating in occasional after-hours support activities, production validations, and critical incident resolution efforts when needed.
This role offers the opportunity to develop deep expertise in the RegionsConnects platform while partnering across multiple business and technology teams to support a key strategic service for the bank.
Additional Preferences
- The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experience supporting business-critical applications, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Banking, financial services, production support, SQL/data analysis, and incident management experience are highly desirable.
