Job Description Summary

‎

The Medical Assistant supports the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care by performing a broad range of clinical and administrative duties under the direction of a physician or other licensed healthcare provider. This is a mobile, field-based role that requires regular travel to provide care support across multiple settings, including inpatient facilities, post-acute care facilities, ambulatory clinics, group homes, assisted living facilities, and patient homes. The Medical Assistant works closely with providers in the field to coordinate and deliver care where patients reside and receive services. This expectation aligns with existing organizational materials that note Medical Assistants may be required to travel based on business needs.
The Medical Assistant is responsible for obtaining and documenting patient information, preparing patients for examinations and procedures, assisting providers with clinical care activities, coordinating follow-up care, and maintaining clinical readiness. This position also supports care coordination, medication and vaccine workflows, inventory management, and accurate electronic health record (EHR) documentation.

Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, effective communication, adaptability, and the ability to work independently in a variety of care environments while delivering safe, timely, and compassionate patient care.

  • Assist physicians and other licensed healthcare providers during examinations, procedures, treatments, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
  • Complete patient follow-up activities, including patient outreach, documentation updates, order preparation, referral coordination, and care team communication according to established protocols.
  • Support medication, vaccine, and clinical supply workflows by preparing materials, transporting necessary supplies and equipment, monitoring inventory, documenting usage, and escalating shortages or concerns as needed.
  • Identify and address gaps in patient records, documentation, visit preparation, or other clinical information to promote accurate and compliant care delivery.
  • Maintain examination rooms, mobile equipment, and clinical supplies to ensure a safe, organized, and operationally ready care environment.
  • Accurately document patient interactions, clinical activities, and provider instructions within the electronic health record.
  • Coordinate daily schedules, route planning, and field visit logistics to support efficient provider workflows and timely patient care delivery.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.
  • Adhere to organizational policies, regulatory requirements, infection prevention standards, and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Operate independently in field environments while maintaining professionalism, safety, and effective communication with patients, caregivers, providers, and facility staff.
