About the Team
The Mission Software Solutions business delivers customised and off-the-shelf software solutions to Defence, Intelligence and other Government customers. We develop and support technologies that address complex operational challenges, delivering trusted capabilities where quality, reliability and mission success are critical.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary delivery team, you'll collaborate with software engineers, architects, business analysts and customers to ensure high-quality software solutions are delivered to support mission-critical outcomes.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our growing team in either Melbourne, Victoria or Canberra. This is an on-site role supporting work within a secure environment.
You will contribute across the software development lifecycle, applying sound engineering principles to design, develop, test, integrate and deploy quality software solutions. You will work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to solve complex problems and deliver outcomes aligned with customer goals.

About You

Essential for this role:
- Design innovative software solutions to complex problems.
- Participate in and lead agile story development and estimation.
- Contribute to Continuous Integration and automation.
- Integrate and deploy complex systems using SecDevOps practices.
- Undertake web-focused User Interface development and User Experience evolution.
- Research, prototype, investigate and develop technologies and systems.
- Apply solid software engineering principles, coding standards and secure development practices.
- Develop and maintain unit and integration tests and contribute to test automation.
- Investigate defects, undertake root-cause analysis and implement effective fixes.
- Produce and maintain clear technical documentation.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and customer stakeholders to deliver shared objectives.
Essential for this Role
- Understanding of Agile software delivery.
- The ability to apply solid engineering principles to software development.

Advantageous, but Not Essential
- Full-stack development with technology stacks including React, Angular, .NET and Java.
- Integration with external systems and applications using REST APIs, integration protocols, JSON and XML.
- Integration and customisation of open source technologies such as NiFi, Kafka, Elastic (ELK) Stack and Solr.
- CI/CD tools and technologies and infrastructure as code, including Ansible, GitLab and Git.
- Containerisation using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Jira and Confluence.
- Linux and Windows environments.
