Description
European University Cyprus is seeking to fill a position of Special Scientist in English as a Foreign/Second Language under the EUC Language Centre, to teach students enrolled in the BSc Biomedical Sciences Programme at the EUC Frankfurt Branch.
The successful candidate will be appointed to the EUC Language Centre and will be based at the EUC Frankfurt Branch. The position involves teaching English language courses to students of the BSc Biomedical Studies Programme, while reporting academically and administratively to the Head of the EUC Language Centre.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Follows the learning and teaching processes as directed by the decisions of the University's Council.
- Follows the academic learning model set by the University and delivers the approved Language Centre curriculum accordingly.
- Teaches English as a Foreign/Second Language to students enrolled in the BSc Biomedical Sciences Programme at the EUC Frankfurt Branch.
- Supports students in developing the English language and academic communication skills required for their studies in biomedical and health-related disciplines.
- Assesses students' progress and provides appropriate academic guidance and feedback.
- Uses contemporary, student-centred teaching methodologies and educational technologies.
- Collaborates with the Head and academic staff of the EUC Language Centre, as well as with the academic staff and administration of the EUC Frankfurt Branch, to ensure effective curriculum implementation and a high-quality student learning experience.
- Participates in curriculum development, assessment, quality assurance, and other academic activities of the EUC Language Centre.
- Collaborates with other University departments and services that have an impact on students' learning experience and curriculum implementation.
Qualifications Required
- First degree in English Language and Literature, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, TEFL/TESOL, or another relevant discipline.
- MA/MSc in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English Language Teaching, or another relevant field.
- Teaching experience in English as a Foreign/Second Language.
- Experience in English for Academic Purposes (EAP), English for Specific Purposes (ESP), and/or English for Medical or Biomedical Sciences will be considered an advantage.
