What will you do?
As an Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be focused on the mechanical engineering and modelling of data centre backup power fuel systems.
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams locally and offshore, you will apply sound engineering judgement, Aurecon’s values, and New Zealand design standards to deliver practical, sustainable, and client-focused solutions. This role supports Aurecon’s commitment to bringing ideas to life, creating positive outcomes for communities, and fostering an inclusive, high-performing global workforce.
As a Mechanical Engineer, the scope of work and role will be as follows:
- Design fuel storage, distribution, and transfer piping systems for backup power applications.
- Develop and maintain Revit models for mechanical and piping systems.
- Perform hydraulic calculations, including pipe sizing, pressure loss calculations, and pump selection.
- Produce coordinated spatial layouts and resolve design clashes with other disciplines.
- Prepare technical documentation, design reports, and engineering calculations.
- Support compliance with relevant fuel storage and piping standards.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and project teams throughout project delivery.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to project stakeholders.

What can you bring to the team?
Firstly, you will share our genuine passion for re-imagining engineering and be someone that actively pursues continuous learning to help shape the future. You will also need the following:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical or piping engineering.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Relevant modelling and design software proficiency, particularly Revit.
- Proven experience in piping/mechanical design within dairy, food & beverage, or water industries
- Solid technical knowledge with hygienic and pressure piping system design, surge analysis, pipe stress, pump sizing and hydraulic analysis.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as, ASME B31 suite of codes or equivalent standards.
- Familiarity with CIP
- Autopipe/CESA
- Stainless steel
