The Operations Analyst is a pivotal and high-impact role centering on managing the operational lifecycle of all mandatory corporate action processing (such as Distributions, Name Changes, Mergers, and Stock Splits). Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Actions Processing, this role functions as an essential informational connector across Canadian Capital Markets Infrastructure. Requires technical expertise in prioritizing timely corporate action payments to CDS Participants while cultivating strong, professional relationships with external business contacts and internal stakeholders.

Job Location: Hybrid (2-3 days in office) - based in Toronto, ON
Contract Duration: 1-Year Contract
Key Accountabilities
Event Analysis & Deadline Management: Analyze corporate action event terms, options, tax implications, and legal requirements to establish operational frameworks. Identify, log, and proactively monitor critical dates (expiries, payment dates) to ensure zero missed deadlines.
Processing & Payout Execution: Oversee end-to-end execution of mandatory corporate actions while maintaining system integrity. Balance payments against proceeds and authorize final participant payouts.
Operations Optimization: Execute mandatory corporate action workflows across internal systems and external platforms. Identify workflow optimization opportunities and leverage technology to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.
Transaction & Fee Handling: Evaluate exceptional corporate action requests, determining and logging applicable fees accurately.
Strategic Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Transfer Agents, Paying Agents, DTC, and Legal Counsel to validate payment details, resolve discrepancies, and guide partners through operational requirements.
Risk Mitigation & Control: Adhere to escalation protocols for timely risk identification and documentation. Continually evaluate procedural frameworks and internal controls to optimize operational standards and uphold customer consideration.
Must Have(s)
Industry Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience in financial services, capital markets, or post-trade operations.
Education: Post-secondary degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
Market Knowledge: Sound understanding of the Canadian Securities Industry across Equities and Fixed Income.
Technical Mastery: Intermediate to expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
Execution & Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage high-priority transactions under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment, backed by analytical/accounting capability to determine entitlement payments.
Strategic Advisory: Strong communication skills to guide legal counsel and external financial entities through operational requirements and financial concepts.
Nice to Have(s)
Direct, hands-on experience with Canadian Depository for Securities (CDS) Corporate Action processing.
Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC).
Bilingualism in French and English (written and verbal).
Salary Range: $32.00/hour - $34.00/hour CAD. Please note that the salary range included is a guideline only. The salary offered may vary based on factors, including, but not limited to, the successful candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
