To lead business performance management and financial analytics by providing timely, accurate and forward-looking financial insights that support strategic and operational decision-making.

The role is responsible for planning, budgeting, forecasting, performance analysis, profitability and cost analytics, management reporting and business partnering. MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

Accountability: Planning                                                                                 Weighting: 40%

Outputs to deliver this accountability:

• To understand the key drivers of income & cost and develop and report financial and other performance measures required by local management & Group to monitor profitability of major products and of individual functions.
• To challenge reconcile functional budgets thereby ensuring that they are realistic and stretching.
• To monitor actual performance of business against target, analyse variances, both on an entity and on a functional basis e.g. Agency banking insurance banking and other business case.
• To reconcile country & Group financial reporting pack management information to function heads, including commentaries on variances to ensure business functions are accountable for their performance.
• To Contribute to the development of business financial unit strategy for the next 2-3 years by providing a view on potential improvements for products or services and an assessment of the existing situation and anticipated changes in the external environment.
• Support management in identifying areas of opportunities, threats, risks & challenges within Banking & competitor environment, by providing both financial (Accounting)& non-financial information.
• Participate in preparation of ALCO planning inputs in accordance to Accounting standards.
• Support Finance Management Committee to work towards closing audit findings to ensure that issue assurance will be trouble-free. Review the actions that have been taken and personally conduct testing of the controls and the assessments. Review the work papers before recommending that internal audit be asked to conduct the issue assurance testing.
• Educate line managers in Finance on the benefits of proactive risk management as intended by the RCA process and support them to articulate their risks and assess the effectiveness of their mitigating controls. Ensure that the concept of affordable risk management is promoted.
• Act as a trusted Finance business partner to business and functional heads, providing independent financial challenge and insight to support commercial and strategic decisions.  

Accountability: Performance Management                                                 Weighting: 30%

Outputs to deliver this accountability:

• Group reporting flash, BSIS, Quarterly schemes.
• Prepare monthly BSIS (Balance sheet income statement) reports and supporting schedules as per Group requirements.
• Effective presentation of detailed business financial performance analysis through production of monthly management accounts.
• Support and constructively challenge monthly financial results, Financial forecasts and plans for each of the business line.
• Perform ad hoc financial analysis within set deadlines and as requested by senior management.
• Identify value adding initiatives in conjunction with Finance and other business leaders in other functions.
• Provide accurately Financial segmented information on income, costs and balance sheet Analysis to satisfy internal and external functional needs.
• Prepare accounting and management information requests from Exco/ Group within agreed deadlines and to ensure that the information meets the highest standards.
• To challenge financial plans to commit costs, identifying areas for cost efficiency and managing the delivery of benefits.
• Participate in the bank's financial statements are prepared in compliance with IFRS.
• Participate in general ledger reconciliation tasks to different finance department clerks.
• Participate/challenge on FTP, cost accounting and cost allocation and cost apportionment process and methodologies to ensure a fair distribution of economic benefits & costs across functions.
• Obtain relevant financial data from the Flexcube system.
• Develop financial models and analytical tools to support business decisions, pricing, investment proposals and strategic initiatives.
• Use data analytics to identify trends, anomalies, emerging risks and opportunities that may not be evident through standard financial reporting.
• Drive automation and continuous improvement of management reporting, forecasting and analytical processes.
• Establish appropriate controls over management information, including data reconciliation, integrity, consistency and traceability to source systems.
• Partner with Technology/Data teams to improve availability and quality of financial and management information.
• Prepare the Management account reports as per Management requirements

Outputs to deliver this accountability:

• Participate in evaluating new product and performance goals as per financial requirement
• Participate in performance review and developing business cases for new expansions
• Undertake key elements of strategic management activity for the bank, involving the identification of how value is created, destroyed and driven in the function

• Ensure an effective filing system is maintained.
• Adhere to the standard processes and procedures according to International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS), Tax and regulatory issues.
• Engage other pillars of the business, ensuring that financial data are consistently applied.

Accountability: Managing career and personal development                Weighting:10% Outputs to deliver this accountability:

• Take responsibility for all aspects around financial reporting, financial diligence, forecasting, strategic performance plan, cost management and control for the NBC regarding areas under your control.
• Meet training objectives as set out in personal training and development plan
• Ensure sufficient updating of procedural changes taking place in NBC
• Take initiative for personal development

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

• A degree in  Accounting & Finance or other related fields.
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant)/ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountant)  or  equivalent NBAA recognition
• Experience in a financial, Banking and Accounting environment
• Knowledge in banking operations
• 5+ years relevant experience in banking with at least 2 years Managerial experience
