Job Description

As a Security Officer - Research Institute in La Jolla, CA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As a Patrol Unarmed Officer at an education location, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and provide exceptional customer service and communication. This driving position requires a valid driver’s license that meets Allied Universal driver policy requirements. What You'll Do:

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at an education and research location.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of campus buildings, laboratories, common areas, parking areas, and perimeter locations; working environments and conditions may vary by site.
• Monitor access points and observe activity throughout assigned areas, reporting suspicious activity, maintenance concerns, and policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Prepare clear, accurate incident reports and maintain professional communication with site contacts and emergency responders.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least two years of security-related experience is required.
• A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
