Pay: The hourly rate for this position is between $175,000-$200,000 per year. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
Position Overview:
The Local Office Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational leadership, safety performance, scheduling, and financial results of a single EPS office. This role leads field technicians, project execution, and office-level resources to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality, NETA-compliant services.
As the frontline leader of the business, the Operations Manager translates regional and divisional objectives into actionable plans—driving technician productivity, effective resource utilization, service quality, and customer satisfaction. This role is critical to maintaining EPS’s reputation for technical excellence, safety leadership, and reliable execution across utility, industrial, data center, transit, and commercial markets.
Responsibilities
Operational Execution & Service Delivery
- Lead all daily operations of the local office, including scheduling, field execution, and resource allocation.
- Manage daily schedule entries and updates to ensure accurate job planning and execution. Including last-minute scheduling changes due to customer requests, site conditions, or weather.
- Assign personnel or contractors with the appropriate skill sets to meet job requirements.
- Drive technician utilization, crew productivity, and efficient project execution.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with NETA standards, project specifications, and client expectations.
- Coordinate with engineering, project management, and regional leadership to ensure alignment.
Financial Performance & Office-Level Accountability
- Own office-level financial performance, including revenue, gross margin, labor efficiency, and cost control.
- Monitor profitability and margins of service work to meet business goals.
- Manage backlog execution, job costing, and forecasting accuracy.
- Prepare operational reports and forecasts outlining accomplishments, challenges, opportunities, and key initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability and support regional growth efforts.
Safety Leadership & Compliance
- Champion a strong, proactive safety culture at the office and job site level.
- Ensure strict adherence to OSHA, NETA, and all company safety standards and procedures.
- Conduct jobsite safety observations, audits, and incident reviews.
- Lead by example in reinforcing zero-incident expectations and accountability.
- Perform Job Behavior Observations (JBO) regularly to provide coaching for both safety and technical aspects to the field technicians.
People Leadership & Workforce Development
- Hire, train, direct, and manage all field service staff within the assigned office.
- Lead, coach, and develop field technicians, supervisors, and office personnel.
- Drive recruiting, retention, workforce planning, and technical skill development.
- Ensure technicians maintain required certifications and meet training expectations.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Customer Execution & Relationship Management
- Interface with clients to develop solutions that meet their needs while driving bookings, growth, and profitability.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery across all customer engagements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local clients and stakeholders.
- Resolve customer issues, product deficiencies, or service challenges in a timely and transparent manner.
Planning, Coordination & Continuous Improvement
- Manage resource utilization, including manpower, tools, vehicles, and equipment.
- Track and maintain equipment maintenance schedules to ensure operational readiness.
- Evaluate and propose capital equipment and leased equipment needs.
- Maintain weekly activity updates and coordinate reporting with the Regional Director.
- Utilize KPIs and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement and decision-making.
- Implement standardized processes and best practices across operations.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical equipment testing and inspection, including high voltage and low voltage applications.
- B.S. in electrical Engineering or associate’s degree preferred.
- NETA Certification a plus.
- Proficiency in use of Doble Power Factor Test and many other test types of test equipment, including analysis of results. Doble relay testing would be a significant plus.
- Thorough knowledge of all types of electrical equipment, installation procedures, and maintenance.
- Excellent management and supervisory skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Superior Safety record.
- Experience with transformers, circuit breakers, switchgears, and relays.
- Experience with budget and profit/loss responsibilities
