About the Role
This leader will help evolve Marketing Operations into an integrated, technology-enabled function that uses automation, data, and emerging capabilities to improve speed to market, compliance processes, customer experience, operational efficiency, and business outcomes. They will oversee marketing operations, Martech platforms, communication, and production teams within the Marketing department. Responsible for ensuring compliant, effective, and efficient marketing campaigns for the organization. Works closely with the Acquisition, Product Strategy, and Digital teams to deliver full support through marketing processes and management of marketing technical vendors, tools, and software platforms. Manages 3–5 direct reports.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Accountable for the effective day-to-day management of all marketing team processes, procedures, tools, internal communications and overall support functions. Responsible for adherence to deadlines and fosters collaboration with peers on the Marketing team to ensure campaigns are deployed and tracked, on time and on budget.
- Develop, deploy, and continuously optimize marketing automation systems with an emphasis on enterprise solutions that orchestrate customer journeys across multiple channels. Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, and supplement marketing processes.
- Manage a team of technical managers deploying marketing campaigns on Martech and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms, including outbound email platforms. Build team capability in campaign execution, automation design, platform administration, workflow support, data usage, testing, compliance, and operational improvement.
- Lead work with internal technical support teams and enterprise-wide technical vendors. Monitor, evaluate and communicate performance of marketing partners and vendors as needed to ensure contractual and vendor management guidelines are achieved. Serve as the relationship liaison with third-party vendors and suppliers, with an emphasis on Martech vendors. Responsible for ensuring their deliverables are achieved on time and within budget.
- Identify, test, and implement potential partners, pricing, tools, and channels that may improve marketing capabilities, reduce expense, or enhance controls/compliance. Support the creation of business cases and plans to recommend future vendors and partners.
- Provide Analytics teams with direction in establishing KPIs, dashboards, and reporting. Ensure the Marketing team is monitoring and achieving established KPIs, including campaign performance, operational effectiveness, platform utilization, automation impact, workflow performance, and customer journey performance.
- Ensure all materials are vetted through the legal and compliance teams for approval and the timely and accurate delivery of materials for marketing department audits.
- Interviews, hires, and trains new staff. Provides constructive and timely performance reviews. Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Skills and Qualifications
- Deep experience supporting digital and mail marketing campaigns, organic channels, product development, Content Management Systems (CMS), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and database marketing tools.
- Proven ability to effectively develop audience creation strategies, journey configuration, data feed integrations, and testing best practices with leading marketing cloud platforms and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms (eg. Pega, Salesforce, Adobe.)
- Deep understanding of evolving credit card industry dynamics, consumer behaviors and marketing best practices. In-depth knowledge in financial regulatory environment and marketing laws such as UDAAP and CAN-SPAM.
- Acumen to provide business insight and evolving marketplace knowledge, leveraging data and insights. Strong analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and measure campaign effectiveness.
- Excellent relationship management skills with proven ability to influence with impact across functions and disciplines, including IT, Risk, Legal, Project Management, Marketing, Analytics, and company leaders. Proven leadership to guide and coach a team of direct reports, vendors, and cross-functional business partners to create a culture of accountability and innovation.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written) to all audiences, including executive leadership, external vendors, peers and junior staff.
- Bachelor’s degree required. MBA or Bachelor’s degree in marketing, computer science, analytics or other technical field preferred.
- 8+ years of experience working within a corporate, consulting or agency marketing environment required.
- Deep background in marketing technology, CRM, technology integrations, and the use of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party data in multichannel marketing required.
- Experience evaluating and implementing modern marketing tools, intelligent automation, workflow orchestration, and emerging Martech capabilities preferred.
- Experience in leading, growing, and mentoring direct reports, cross-functional teams and vendor marketing teams preferred.
- Financial services or credit card experience preferred.
