The Director, Marketing Operations, Promotional Materials Management will lead Vertex’s centralized promotional materials operations function across all U.S. products and businesses. This role is responsible for the end-to-end operational management of promotional material review, approval, production, distribution, and lifecycle management, ensuring efficient, scalable, and compliant execution.

This leader will operationalize and continuously improve the review committee SOP, strengthen review committee practices across the organization, and drive measurable improvement across people, process, and platform. The role will also oversee coordinator services, including a team of five FTEs, and serve as a key partner to Commercial, Legal, Regulatory, Medical, Compliance, and external agencies.

The ideal candidate brings strong marketing operations leadership, deep understanding of promotional review in a regulated environment, and a proven ability to build scalable processes, high-performing teams, and effective cross-functional partnerships.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operationalize, maintain, and enhance the review committee SOP, governance, workflows, and standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across people, process, and platform to improve cycle time, quality, transparency, and stakeholder experience.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators, metrics, and reporting to assess operational health, throughput, compliance, and service performance.
  • Oversee intake, routing, prioritization, tracking, and archival of promotional materials through the review process.
  • Build and scale marketing operations capabilities that support current business needs and future organizational growth.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of five FTEs and two contractors providing coordinator services and operational support.
  • Establish clear roles, service expectations, and development priorities to ensure high-quality execution and strong partnership with the business.
  • Partner closely with Commercial, Legal, Regulatory, Medical, Compliance, and other stakeholders to drive role clarity, alignment, and effective decision-making.
  • Recommend and implement strategies that reduce barriers, streamline workflows, and support timely response to market needs while maintaining compliance.
  • Support launch planning and execution by owning marketing operations timelines, processes, and readiness activities related to promotional materials.
  • Establish and manage relationships with external agencies and vendors involved in the review committee process; drive best practices, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Oversee processes and systems supporting distribution of promotional materials to the field, including inventory tracking, monitoring, and management.
  • Lead through change effectively, creating clarity, engagement, and accountability in a dynamic environment.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Significant experience in marketing operations, commercial operations, promotional review, or related functions within the biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industry
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and operational service models in a complex, matrixed environment
  • Deep understanding of promotional material review processes and cross-functional review committee operations in a regulated environment
  • Experience building, implementing, and improving SOP-driven processes, workflows, and governance models
  • Proven ability to lead continuous improvement and change management initiatives across people, process, and technology
  • Strong experience developing metrics, dashboards, and reporting to drive operational performance and decision-making
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or management, or relevant discipline
  • Typically requires 8-10 years related experience in the Pharmaceutical industry and 3 years of supervisory/management experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
