Position Summary:
We are looking for a Business Applications Analyst to join our corporate IT team, based out of our Mississauga, Ontario office, supporting the technical operations of the GSD (Gypsum Supply Division) and PHCP (Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, Piping) divisions in the United States, as well as the AD Canada Operations team. This role acts as a subject-matter resource for the operational tools that connect AD's internal teams, distributor members, and supplier partners, with particular focus on the LBMX platform, Solution Center, and EDI-related business processes. The role also carries meaningful technical responsibility for business reporting, including connecting to relational databases, writing SQL queries, and building reports in Qlik.
This is a business operations role that requires genuine technical fluency, particularly working knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and BI/reporting tools such as Qlik, along with a solid understanding of EDI transaction types and the business flows they support, such as procure to pay. EDI mapping and software development are not required. This individual will be an important point of contact for our distributor members and suppliers, helping ensure a high level of satisfaction with AD's systems, processes, and information, especially when immediate assistance is needed to resolve a business or reporting issue.
This role works closely with the GSD, PHCP, and AD Canada Operations teams. Collaboration with GSD and PHCP is primarily centered on the LBMX platform and its associated business processes, while collaboration with AD Canada Operations is centered on providing data access to support reporting and process automation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for internal users, member distributors, and suppliers on LBMX-related questions and issues.
- Maintain trading partner information, customer locations, and cross-reference data within LBMX and related systems.
- Support and troubleshoot Solution Center configuration and functionality for end users.
- Validate EDI transactions and understand the underlying transaction types and business flows they support (e.g., procure to pay), coordinating with LBMX or internal technical teams when mapping changes are required.
- Connect to relational databases and write SQL queries to extract, validate, and analyze operational and transactional data.
- Build, maintain, and distribute business reports using Qlik and other BI/reporting tools to support PHCP and GSD operational and member-facing needs.
- Investigate and resolve business-process issues raised by members, suppliers, or internal stakeholders, evaluating alternatives and determining appropriate solutions with staff and users.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to LBMX, Solution Center, and reporting workflows, including user guides and process specifications.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices related to LBMX, EDI business processes, and reporting tools.
- Identify opportunities for process and reporting improvement, working with vendors and members to enhance business workflows.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to understand the company’s general business functions and have a conceptual understanding of each division’s/department’s activities.
- Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL, sufficient to write queries and connect to data sources for reporting.
- Experience with Qlik or a similar BI/reporting tool, including building and maintaining business reports.
- Solid understanding of EDI transaction types and the business flows they support (e.g., procure to pay), and the ability to validate transactions from a business perspective; EDI mapping or development expertise is not required.
- Comfort working directly with business users and external customers/partners in a support or consultative capacity.
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to convey technical concepts in a way that is easy for non-technical people to understand.
- Strong learning, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Consistently demonstrates a high level of integrity and professionalism.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Intermediate-level Microsoft Office capabilities.
Nice to Have:
- Direct experience with the LBMX platform, including Solution Center configuration and support.
- Exposure to the PHCP, HVAC, or general distribution/industrial supply sector, including experience with an ERP system in a distribution, wholesale, or buying-group environment.
- Comfort using enterprise AI tools to support report-building, data analysis, and process discovery. AD provides these tools as a value-add, but they complement, rather than substitute for, the business, LBMX, and EDI experience described above.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, information systems, or a related field. Relevant work experience may substitute for formal education.
- 2–4 years of experience in a business analyst, business operations, application support, or customer support/success role involving data reporting.
Additional Comments:
- Travel: Minimal; 1 to 3 times per year.
- Hours: 8:00a – 5:00p M-F; hybrid schedule, 3 days in the office, 2 days remote.
