Available Schedules (40 Hours Per Week):
- 6:00 PM – 2:00 AM
- 7:30 PM – 3:30 AM
Schedules may include any day of the week based on operational needs.
Position Overview
Citadel Security USA is hiring a Full-Time Unarmed Transit Security Officer to support public transportation operations in Aspen. This position works alongside RFTA personnel to promote a safe and welcoming environment for passengers, drivers, employees, and community members.
Successful candidates are dependable, observant, and able to communicate professionally while responding appropriately to routine situations and unexpected incidents. This position emphasizes customer service, visibility, and proactive security.
Key Responsibilities
Transit Security
- Maintain a professional security presence at assigned transit locations.
- Conduct regular foot patrols throughout bus facilities, passenger loading areas, and surrounding property.
- Monitor activity to identify potential safety or security concerns.
- Help maintain orderly operations during peak passenger periods.
- Observe and report suspicious behavior, hazards, or policy violations.
Passenger & Employee Support
- Assist RFTA drivers and staff by helping maintain a safe environment.
- Provide courteous assistance to passengers requesting information or directions.
- Promote respectful interactions between passengers and transit personnel.
- Help reduce conflicts through calm communication and professional presence.
- Report on operational concerns affecting passenger or employee safety.
Incident Response
- Respond appropriately to disturbances, emergencies, or unusual activity.
- Notify supervisors or emergency responders when necessary.
- Secure affected areas until additional assistance arrives.
- Follow established company and client procedures during all incidents.
Documentation
- Prepare accurate daily activity logs.
- Complete detailed incident reports whenever required.
- Document safety concerns and operational observations promptly.
- Maintain clear communication with supervisors throughout the shift.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful or fast-moving situations.
- Professional appearance and dependable attendance.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
- Basic computer and report-writing skills.
- Ability to successfully pass all required background screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in security, public transit, hospitality, customer service, or related fields.
- Experience working with the public in high-traffic environments.
- Strong conflict resolution and verbal de-escalation abilities.
- Familiarity with incident documentation and reporting procedures.
Work Environment
- Public transportation facilities with frequent interaction with passengers and employees.
- Combination of indoor and outdoor assignments throughout the shift.
- Evening and overnight work in varying weather conditions.
- Continuous walking and standing while conducting patrols.
- Fast-paced environment requiring awareness, professionalism, and sound judgment.
