Field Service Engineer - (Blood Gas & Point of Care - Invitro Diagnostics) - Cape Town

Position Summary

The Field Service Engineer will play a critical role in representing Radiometer in the field by delivering technical excellence, customer support, and high-quality service across South Africa. This role is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, repair, and customer training of Radiometer analyzers and related IT solutions.

Based in Cape Town, the role will support Radiometer South Africa and work closely with the Southern Africa Service Team to ensure customer satisfaction, equipment reliability, and service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Installation, Implementation & Customer Training

• Install Radiometer analyzers and related IT solutions at customer sites.

• Ensure systems are installed, validated, and handed over in line with Radiometer standards.

• Deliver customer training to support proper use, basic maintenance, and optimal system performance.

• Support customers during implementation to ensure a smooth transition and strong user adoption.

Technical Service & Support

• Perform advanced troubleshooting, technical updates, service repairs, and preventive maintenance.

• Respond to customer service requests in a timely and professional manner.

• Minimize equipment downtime through accurate diagnosis and effective resolution.

• Ensure service tools, test equipment, and calibration requirements are maintained according to company standards.

• Provide technical expertise on Radiometer analyzers, IT solutions, and related service processes.

Compliance, Quality & Documentation

• Complete regulatory field actions, technical updates, service reports, and documentation within required timelines.

• Maintain accurate records of service activity, spare parts usage, customer interactions, and system performance.

• Follow Radiometer and Danaher policies, safety standards, quality procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

• Ensure all field activities are completed with a strong focus on compliance, accuracy, and customer safety.

Customer Engagement & Business Support

• Act as a trusted external representative of Radiometer, demonstrating professionalism, product knowledge, and customer focus.

• Build strong relationships with customers to enhance satisfaction, loyalty, and long-term partnership.

• Identify and communicate potential opportunities for service contract renewals, analyzer placements, upgrades, and IT solution enhancements.

• Collaborate with sales, applications, service, and management teams to support customer needs and business growth.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

• Equivalent technical qualifications and relevant field service experience may also be considered.

Experience

• Prior field service experience within medical devices, diagnostics, laboratory equipment, or healthcare technology is preferred.

• Experience working directly with customers in a technical service environment is an advantage.

• Knowledge of analyzer systems, IT connectivity, or diagnostic workflows would be beneficial.

Other Requirements

• Valid driver’s license.

• Willingness to travel across South Africa based on customer and business needs.

• Fluency in English is required; additional local languages would be an advantage.
