Facility Attendant (Recreation Specialist I)

From birthday parties and family celebrations to special events and activities, you’ll play an important role in preparing our public facilities and ensuring each space is welcoming, safe, and ready for the occasion. Supervision Exercised and Received:  
 
Recreation Specialist I receives general supervision from senior staff; Recreation Specialist I exercises supervisory responsibilities over Recreation Leaders and program volunteers.
 
Essential Functions:  The essential functions of the classification may include, but are not limited to, the functions below and are subject to changes in operational necessity.

• Oversees the overall safety, health and welfare of all individuals involved in the programs; supervises recreation facility site(s); prepares incident and accident reports as required;
• Follows all safety rules and protocols included in the Injury and Illness Prevention Program; takes appropriate action as required to identify and correct safety hazards and report safety concerns to their supervisor;
• Performs required duties under the City's disaster response plan;
• Janitorial task and duties;
• Coordinate and communicate relevant requests for facility repairs;
• Monitor use of program/event spaces by renter and providers;
• Prepares required documentation related to activities and departmental requirements;
• Maintains positive relationship with participants, parents and community partners; provides customer service, information and assistance;

Experience and Education Guidelines: Any combination equivalent to experience and education that would most likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
 
Education:
High school diploma or certified equivalent (GED).
  
Experience:
One year in municipal recreation programs.
