Position Summary
Dark Matter Technologies is seeking a motivated and technically curious Software Engineer I to join our Engineering organization. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career software developers who are passionate about building high-quality software solutions, learning modern engineering practices, and contributing to products that serve the mortgage and real estate technology industry.
The Software Engineer I will work closely with senior engineers, architects, product managers, and quality engineers to design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise applications. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, a commitment to software quality, and a desire to continuously learn and grow within a collaborative engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, debug, and maintain software applications and services.
- Participate in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established engineering standards.
- Assist in analyzing business and technical requirements to develop effective software solutions.
- Collaborate with team members during sprint planning, code reviews, and design discussions.
- Investigate and resolve software defects and production issues.
- Create and maintain technical documentation related to application functionality and support procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives involving code quality, automation, performance, and reliability.
- Learn Dark Matter products, platforms, development standards, and industry regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 0-3 years of software development experience.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language.
- Embraces an AI-First mentality when it comes to software development
- Understanding of object-oriented design principles and software development fundamentals.
- Familiarity with source control systems such as Git.
- Knowledge of basic database concepts and SQL.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with .NET/C#, ASP.NET, or related Microsoft technologies.
- Experience with Angular
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services.
- Familiarity with REST APIs and web services.
- Enterprise Integration Experience
- Understanding of Agile development methodologies.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks.
Success Measures
During the first 12 months, the Software Engineer I will:
- Successfully deliver assigned development stories and defect fixes.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Dark Matter engineering tools, processes, and coding standards.
- Contribute positively to sprint commitments and team objectives.
- Produce high-quality, well-tested code requiring minimal rework.
- Build strong working relationships across Engineering, Product Management, and Quality Assurance teams.
