We have an excellent opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in our Finance and Accounting department based in Dallas, TX.

This position will work in a hybrid setting (2-3 days per week in-office) in our Dallas office.

Responsibilities

Senior professional performs general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements such as balance sheets, profit-and-loss statements, capital expenditure and restricted accounting schedules. Prepares journal entries, reports, and analyzes accounting transactions, and prepares advance accounting schedules. May assist in ensuring the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles. Works independently with minimal guidance on complex problems.

• Leads and participates in the compilation and analysis of financial information, which includes the preparation of journal entries to general ledger accounts and includes restricted fund accounting.
• Runs and analyzes income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements, and various other accounting statements and reports. Typically, coaches, reviews and may delegate the work to other professionals or business services. May serve as a team lead, player / coach or manage others. May manage projects, requiring review of others' work.
• Distributes expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivables according to schedules.
• Records accruals and prepayments, allocations, and other journal entries.
• Apply understanding of Fixed Assets, Lease Accounting, Liabilities and Restricted Net Assets.
• Responsible for review and approval of general ledger accounts reconciliations. Performs activities in compliance with the Company's accounting policies, procedures, standards, and internal controls.
• Performs special projects and analysis. Trains and coordinates the activities of other colleagues.
• Works closely with internal business partners in Finance and across other departments.

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field of study.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience with general ledger accounting practices, policies, and audit requirements.
• Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience with automated accounting and finance systems as well as Account Reconciliations.
• Skilled in planning projects and working against deadlines to provide the end product.
• Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of Association staff.
• Skilled in oral and written communication.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary minimum to the midpoint of the range is $76,800.00 to $90,700.00. Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials may apply to the pay range.  The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
