Overview

Who we are

Collaborative. Respectful. A place to dream and do. These are just a few words that describe what life is like at Toyota. As one of the world’s most admired brands, Toyota is growing and leading the future of mobility through innovative, high-quality solutions designed to enhance lives and delight those we serve. We’re looking for talented team members who want to Dream. Do. Grow. with us.

Toyota does not offer support or sponsorship of job applicants for employment-based visas or any other work authorization for this role now or in the future. You must have the right to work in the United States and not require Toyota support or sponsorship for immigration-related employment (e.g., H-1B, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 STEM OPT, F-1 CPT, "job flexibility benefits" (also known as I-140 or Adjustment of Status portability), etc.) now or in the future. You should not apply for this role if you will require Toyota to assist with immigration support or sponsorship now or in the future.

Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s SEP4 Department is seeking a passionate, highly motivated circuitry engineer. The primary responsibility of this role is the design of wire harness circuitry.

Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the circuitry engineer will support the department's objective of developing circuitry designs that conform to Power Source distribution, Joints and splicing, CAN communication, Wire-to-Wire, and Grounding design guidelines, and will release technical data such as drawings and parts lists.

What You’ll Be Doing
Designing the electrical backbone of next-generation vehicles, you’ll play a hands-on role in bringing wire harness circuitry concepts to life—ensuring systems perform reliably, efficiently, and at scale. Success in this role means delivering high-quality circuitry designs that meet cost, performance, and timing targets while collaborating across engineering and supplier teams to drive innovation forward.

  • Create and review circuitry designs for power source distribution, connectors, joints, and grounding systems to meet cost, mass, and performance targets

  • Develop and align wire harness circuitry schedules with overall vehicle development milestones to ensure timely program execution

  • Drive the creation and release of wire harness drawings and change documentation, ensuring accuracy and readiness for production

  • Collaborate with suppliers to initiate and release design requests for power distribution components such as fuse and relay systems

  • Own and maintain wire harness parts lists, supporting traceability and configuration management across programs

  • Partner with system engineers and project leaders to manage wiring specifications, ensuring alignment, tracking, and timely distribution across teams

  • Apply Toyota Business Practices (TBP) to analyze challenges, develop solutions, and actively contribute to cross-functional working groups with suppliers and manufacturing teams

  • Support continuous improvement and team success through additional responsibilities that expand your expertise and impact

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree that provides a strong foundation in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline

  • 3+ years of experience where you’ve worked directly with wire harness suppliers in design, development, or production environments

  • Ability to interpret and apply circuit schematics and wiring diagrams across a variety of electrical systems

  • Foundational understanding of vehicle development and manufacturing processes that enables you to contribute across the full lifecycle

  • Programming experience or coding skills (such as Python) that enhance automation and engineering efficiency

  • Experience leveraging AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) to improve productivity and streamline engineering workflows

  • Strong negotiation and influence skills that enable you to effectively partner across cross-functional teams

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) to support documentation and collaboration

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills that enable effective collaboration in cross-functional teams

Added Bonus If You Have

  • Advanced degree that deepens your expertise in engineering disciplines and strengthens your technical foundation

  • Additional experience across full vehicle development cycles, giving you deeper insight into end-to-end program execution

  • Hands-on experience with wire harness design tools such as Cabling Designer, CR5000, or Zuken to accelerate design output quality

  • Japanese language capability that enhances collaboration with global teams

What We’ll Bring

During your interview process, our team can fill you in on all the details of our industry-leading benefits and career development opportunities. A few highlights include:

  • A work environment built on teamwork, flexibility, and respect
  • Professional growth and development programs to help advance your career, as well as tuition reimbursement
  • Team Member Vehicle Purchase Discount
  • Toyota Team Member Lease Vehicle Program (if applicable)
  • Comprehensive health care and wellness plans for your entire family
  • Toyota 401(k) Savings Plan featuring a company match, as well as an annual retirement contribution from Toyota regardless of whether you contribute (if applicable)
  • Paid holidays and paid time off
  • Referral services related to prenatal services, adoption, childcare, schools and more
  • Tax-advantaged accounts (Health Savings Account, Health Care FSA, Dependent Care FSA)
  • Relocation assistance (if applicable)
