Guy CarpenterDescription:
We are seeking candidates who are resourceful, proactive, and looking to develop their career within a highly collaborative, market-leading team at Marsh Re in London. The role sits within our Facultative Broking business and focuses on downstream energy reinsurance. You will work closely with clients and London Market reinsurers to structure, negotiate, and place tailored facultative solutions. It’s a strong opportunity for someone looking to deepen (or pivot into) energy, bringing either a solid underwriting/broker support foundation with London Market placing exposure, or existing broking experience in energy or property.
We will count on you to:
Broker downstream energy facultative placements end-to-end, supporting clients with placement strategy, market engagement, and execution.
Work with clients and internal stakeholders to understand risk, coverage needs, and placement objectives, and translate these into effective market submissions.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with London Market reinsurers/markets, negotiating pricing, terms, conditions, and coverage to achieve positive client outcomes.
Produce and manage placement documentation (e.g., submissions, quotes, market presentations, cover notes/slips, and contracts) in a timely and accurate manner.
Manage the placement lifecycle through to binding and post-bind activities, including follow-up on contract documentation and ensuring timely flow of materials.
Collaborate closely with colleagues across the business to deliver coordinated client solutions and provide high-quality service throughout the process.
What you need to have:
Experience working in the insurance or reinsurance industry (either in the London Market or direct insurance), with exposure to placing business (through broking, underwriting, or strong broker support experience supporting placements).
Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, clients, and market participants at all levels.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines.
Ability to manage time-sensitive workstreams with multiple stakeholders, maintaining accuracy across documentation and ensuring a smooth path to bind.
Strong submission and presentation skills—able to turn technical risk information into concise, high-quality market submissions/presentations.
Preferably ACII qualified or working towards the ACII qualification.
What makes you stand out?
Experience broking facultative business (energy and/or property), or a clear, demonstrated interest in focusing your career on downstream energy.
Background at a smaller broker where you have supported the full lifecycle of broking and can operate with ownership and accountability.
Strong technical understanding of downstream energy risks and/or a proven track record of quickly developing product and market expertise.
Established relationships with key London Market facultative reinsurers (or a strong ability to build a market network quickly) and confidence presenting submissions to underwriters.
Demonstrated ability to shape placement strategy (market selection, layering/limits, wording approach) and articulate trade-offs to clients clearly.
Interest in and awareness of downstream energy market dynamics (capacity, appetite shifts, loss trends, wordings focus areas) and how they impact placement decisions.
A track record of taking ownership end-to-end, proactively managing stakeholders and anticipating issues through contract production and post-bind follow-up.
