Job Description
The Design Engineer – Solutions Engineering is responsible for supporting customer-facing solution development, from early engagement and requirements definition through solution design, documentation, and deployment support.
This role works cross-functionally with Product Management, R&D Engineering and Application Engineering to ensure that standard products or minor derivatives are effectively applied to meet customer needs.
Core Objective: Enable successful customer solution development by translating application requirements into optimized technical designs and ensuring seamless execution across the product lifecycle.
Product & Component Design
Independently design components, assemblies, or subsystems based on defined requirements
Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, drawings, and tolerances
Apply engineering principles, standards, and design guidelines consistently
Engineering Analysis & Problem Solving
Perform calculations, simulations, or analysis to validate design performance
Evaluate materials, tolerances, and manufacturing methods
Support root cause analysis and implementation of design improvements
Documentation & Change Management
Prepare and maintain drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs)
Support engineering change requests (ECRs) and design reviews
Ensure documentation accuracy and configuration control
Testing, Validation & Manufacturing Support
Support prototype builds, testing, and validation activities
Analyze test results and incorporate findings into design updates
Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality teams to ensure design feasibility and compliance
Cross Functional Collaboration
Work with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Project teams
Participate in design reviews and technical discussions
Communicate design intent, risks, and recommendations clearly
Continuous Improvement & Skill Development
Identify opportunities to improve designs, tools, or processes
Apply lessons learned and best practices to new designs
Provide informal support or guidance to Design Engineer I roles
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics or related discipline) required
2–4 years of experience in product design, engineering, or related technical roles
Working knowledge of engineering design principles and methodologies
Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, AutoCAD)
Basic experience with engineering analysis or simulation tools preferred
Strong attention to detail and documentation standards
Ability to manage multiple design tasks with limited supervision
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Sound engineering judgment and problem-solving capability
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Both Domestic and International Travel up to 10%
