Job Highlights
- Maintains accurate, complete, and organized patient charts and ensures required documentation is filed/scanned appropriately.
- Reviews charts for missing, incomplete, or unsigned documentation and promptly communicates deficiencies to nursing staff.
- Answers and appropriately routes telephone calls and communicates messages accurately and promptly.
- Assists with admission, transfer, and discharge paperwork and ensures required documents are available and organized.
- Maintains current patient census, unit logs, assignment sheets, and other required tracking documents.
- Assists nursing leadership with preparation and completion of daily and monthly reports.
- Coordinates communication between nursing, providers, Social Services, Admissions, HIM, Pharmacy, and other departments as appropriate.
- Ensures provider orders, laboratory results, reports, and other clinical documentation are appropriately routed to nursing staff for follow-up.
- Maintains confidentiality and complies with HIPAA and facility privacy requirements.
- Identifies missing paperwork or documentation and follows through until the issue is resolved or appropriately escalated.
- Maintains an organized nurses’ station and ensures commonly used forms and supplies are readily available.
- Prioritizes multiple tasks in a fast-paced behavioral-health environment while maintaining accuracy.
- Immediately communicates urgent patient-care information, abnormal reports/results received, safety concerns, or documentation concerns to the appropriate licensed nurse.
- Performs additional clerical and administrative duties as assigned by nursing leadership.
Position Summary
Play a critical role in ensuring quality patient care, while enabling medical and nursing staff to do their work efficiently and in compliance with facility policies and procedures. Utilize your efficiency, organization, and excellent communication skills to maximize unit outcomes working in the role of the Ward Clerk.
Posted Salary Range
USD $20.00 - USD $25.00 /Hr.Wage Commensuration
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, education and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.Duties & Responsibilities
Provides clerical and select administrative services that facilitate unit operations and support the delivery of care to patients/ residents requiring care including:
- answering phone calls
- maintaining patient charts
- completing various reports
- other related duties.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must have at minimum a High School diploma or equivalent G.E.D
- Must be hard working, friendly, organized, and professional
- Previous medical and clerical experience strongly preferred
- Reliable transportation required
