Ophelia Tavern & Bar Top are coming to The Dale in Avondale Estates, and we're building a hardworking and dependable Back of House Opening Team.
Ophelia Tavern will be a refined neighborhood gathering place serving Italian-inspired comfort food, including pizzas crisped in 600-degree ovens, fresh pastas tossed in scratch-made sauces, juicy house-ground burgers, entrées, salads, appetizers, and small plates.
Located upstairs, Bar Top features a spacious covered rooftop patio overlooking the Town Green, a cozy indoor bar, fireplace, and private event space.
With a full-service restaurant downstairs, rooftop service upstairs, and private events, maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen is essential to our success. We're looking for dependable, hardworking Dishwashers/Kitchen Utility team members who understand how important their role is to keeping the entire restaurant running.
What We're Looking For
- Previous restaurant dishwasher or kitchen experience preferred but not required
- Dependable and punctual
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Ability to maintain an organized dish area during high-volume service
- Strong attention to cleanliness and sanitation
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and put away restaurant equipment and supplies

- Ability to follow instructions and communicate with managers and team members

- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and private events
Position Responsibilities
- Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment
- Maintain a steady flow of clean dishes and equipment throughout service
- Properly sort and organize dirty and clean items
- Return clean dishes, utensils, cookware, and equipment to designated storage areas
- Keep the dish machine and dish area clean and organized
- Maintain proper sanitizer levels and follow sanitation procedures
- Remove trash, recycling, cardboard, and other waste as assigned
- Maintain clean floors and address spills promptly
- Sweep and mop kitchen and BOH areas
- Assist with general kitchen cleaning
- Clean mats, walls, equipment, storage areas, and other surfaces as assigned
- Help maintain cleanliness of walk-ins, storage areas, and BOH spaces
- Assist with receiving and putting away deliveries when needed
- Support Line Cooks and Prep Cooks with basic kitchen tasks when trained and requested
- Assist with setup and breakdown for private events and special functions when needed
- Follow all health department, food safety, sanitation, and company standards
- Complete assigned opening and closing duties
- Communicate equipment, safety, or sanitation concerns to management immediately

Our Dishwashers help keep every part of the operation moving—from ensuring Line Cooks have the pans and tools they need to making sure Servers and Bartenders have clean plates, silverware, and glassware for their guests.

Schedule & Availability
Our anticipated operating schedule is:
Monday – Friday: Approximately 4:00 PM until Close
Saturday & Sunday: Potentially 11:00 AM until Close
Tentative Closing Time: Approximately 10:00 PM
Dishwasher shifts may begin before the restaurant opens and will often continue after the restaurant closes in order to complete cleaning and closing responsibilities.
Applicants should have flexibility for:
- Evening shifts
- Weekdays
- Weekends
- Closing shifts
- Holidays
- Private events and special functions
- Training before opening
Operating hours and schedules are tentative and may change based on business needs.
