Our client, a prestigious luxury hotel group in the Maldives, is seeking an inspiring Director of Human Resources to lead the full HR function and champion a people‑first culture across the resort.
In this strategic role, you will shape an environment where every team member feels recognised, valued, and supported in contributing to the company’s vision. You’ll partner closely with resort leaders to drive all core HR pillars — Recruitment & Selection, Induction & Familiarisation, Performance Management, Learning & Development, Talent & Career Management, Engagement, Reward & Recognition, Compensation & Benefits, Welfare, CSR, and overall employee satisfaction.
You will ensure consistent alignment with the company’s mission, values, and service philosophy, empowering teams to deliver professional excellence and anticipate organisational needs. Through strong leadership, progressive HR practices, and a commitment to harmonious management–labour relations, you’ll help build a motivated, high‑performing workforce that elevates the guest experience and strengthens the brand.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruitment and Selection
- Drive activities which ensure that the hotel has the right employee in the right role and engage in processes which assists in spotting employee talent inside and outside of the organisation.
- Assist to prepare manpower budgets based on business strategies.
- Identify high-performing talents and recognise vertical or lateral movements for the existing talent pool to provide departmental transfers in accordance to their skill set
Induction and Familiarization
- Monitor procedures which ensure new employees feel comfortable and all team members are prepared for all new employees' arrival.
- Keep up to date with and review, co-ordinate and conduct orientation programmes.
- Conduct probationary reviews and provide feedback to talent or the management as required.
Performance Assessment and Feedback
- Organize the annual performance appraisal process.
- Work with the resort's management to analyze performance and identify any areas for improvement.
- Assist managers in setting objectives and goals for employees.
- Make recommendations to set KPIs to represent a balanced scorecard approach across the group.
Training & Development
- Work with the Group T&D Manager to conduct/review training needs analysis annually and budget accordingly. And plan training for future skill requirements and review current initiatives to ensure the development and implementation of development and training is aimed to address and narrow any performance gaps.
- In conjunction with Group Training Manager, evaluate the effectiveness of the training programs; its suitability and ROI.
Talent Management
- Assist the Human Resources Managers in completing assessments to identify high performers.
- Assist Resort Management in the preparation of succession plans.
Career Management
- Understand the career ambitions of high performers and ensure this is communicated within the leadership team and to the CEO.
- Provide communication on career paths available within the company and ensure vacancies within the company are displayed appropriately for internal applicants.
Policies and Procedures
- Clear understanding of HR policies and procedures.
- To communicate HR policies and procedures to all employees.
Reward and Recognition
- Promote a Work-Life Balance to achieve a healthy workforce.
- Motivate employees through suitable recognition and reward programmes.
- Implement and maintain effective employee-related activities and motivational programmes.
Compensation and Benefits
- Conduct an annual market salary review and analyse market data to benchmark compensation packages and remain competitive to attract and retain employees while maintaining internal equity and being competitive with the industry norms.
- Review job descriptions and job specifications to stay relevant with the hotel industry and changing skill requirements.
Welfare
- Implement and uphold equitable work practices.
- Ensure adequate provisions for staff benefits and amenities while recognizing that one size may not fit all across the group.
Corporate Social Responsibility
- In conjunction with the T&D Manager support the local community through the co-ordination of strategic CSR activities.
Employee Satisfaction
- Conduct and review regular one-on-one discussions with high performers.
REQUIREMENTS:
- University Degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent is required
- Ten years in hotel Human Resources operations preferably ina resort industry including a minimum of five years in management and similar position.
- Remote country experience and multi-cultural environment exposure. Maldives experience is an advantage.
- Group experience and technical skills in Human Resources
