Job Description Summary
The Senior Accountant performs a variety of general ledger accounting duties with a primary focus on ensuring that the financial statements accurately reflect the financial position of Southeast Health.
Job Description
Senior Accountant I is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations
- Ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records, including general ledger, fixed assets and cash management in order to limit financial and regulatory risk from improper accounting treatment.
- Analyzing financial variances and trends and provide guidance and feedback to management.
- Preparing financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements) and regulatory reports.
- Leading capital and operating budget preparation and financial forecasting for assigned Hospital/Clinic departments.
- Ensuring compliance with accounting standards (GASB) and other relevant regulations.
- Responsible for reviewing and approving A/P settlement runs.
- Responsible for validating A/P settlement runs to bank settlements to ensure that payment information transmitted accurately to the banks.
- Responsible for leading audit activities for assigned areas with internal and external auditors.
- Managing billing, support and collections for outside billing for leases, clinical loans and hospital services provided to outside entities.
- Reconciling account balances and bank statements and ensuring compliance with internal controls and any risks are mitigated.
- Identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures and implementing new processes, procedures and controls in their assigned areas.
- Providing accounting guidance to hospital/clinic managers, directors and vice presidents to ensure proper accounting treatment, contract review and invoice coding.
- Performing other duties as requested by primary manager that do not compromise moral code of conduct or protocols set in place for patient or employee safety
