About the role
Responsible for preparing internal, external, and regulatory reports related to financial statements on a statutory and GAAP basis. Works closely with financial data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards. Analyze financial statements and reports to identify trends, variances, and key performance indicators. Consolidates financial data from various business units to present a comprehensive view of the organization's financial position. Ensures compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., GAAP or STAT) and regulatory requirements. Assists external auditors as needed.Key Accountabilities:
Statutory Reporting: Completes more complex quarterly and annual statutory filings. For all NAIC filings, accountable for the more voluminous and complex schedules, exhibits and Notes. Identifies, initiates, tests and implements process improvements to make more efficient.
GAAP Accounting and Reporting: Prepares and consolidates quarterly and annual financial statements for the non-insurance entities. Maintains and communicates configuration changes. Reconciles GAAP financial statements and maintains Excel GAAP financial statements. Prepares Trustco Statement of Cash Flows quarterly. Completes D&T Codification Accounting and Disclosure checklist for the noninsurance companies and all requests needed for all audited financial statements. Researches GAAP pronouncements to determine impact on Trustmark financials. Coordinates with internal and external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Audited Financial Statements: Prepares GAAP and aids with all other insurance legal entity audit reports as needed. Compile data, ensuring completeness and accuracy; and detailed documents support the reports.
Variance Analysis: Prepares and ensures accuracy, completeness and clarity of quarterly and annual statutory financial statement line-by-line analyses for GAAP and STAT legal entities which identify significant, unusual or unreasonable variances.
Surveys and Other: Prepares complex annual and quarterly AMBEST, ACLI, US Census, and other industry associations’ surveys.
Prepares other more complex required STAT filings including AHPEE, state pages and other.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree and/or 4 – 6 years of related experience OR High School Diploma or GED with 6-8 years of related experience.
The compensation range for this role is (based on the corporate location in Lake Forest, Illinois):
$71,520.40 - $103,307.70 per yearThe final salary offer will be determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, skill set, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for bonus.
