Sr. AI Solutions Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Sr. AI Solutions Engineer to join our Financial Data Analytics team and advance AI and automation across F5’s CFO organization.

This senior, hands-on individual contributor will transform business needs and early AI prototypes into secure, reliable applications that other teams can confidently use and support. You will own technical design and implementation across the application lifecycle, partnering with Finance stakeholders and F5’s Digital organization.

This is an applied engineering role—not a research or presales position. You will bring independent technical judgment, establish reusable engineering patterns, and help shape how Finance adopts AI responsibly and at scale.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy AI applications spanning knowledge assistance, document processing, financial analysis, and multi-step workflow automation.
• Assess existing prototypes and develop them into maintainable applications with usable interfaces, enterprise integrations, and clear operational ownership.
• Build reliable connections to approved enterprise systems and data sources, incorporating permission-aware retrieval, validated queries, and controlled knowledge updates.
• Establish automated testing and AI evaluations covering factual grounding, task completion, numerical accuracy, exception handling, and representative business scenarios.
• Implement secure deployment and operational practices, including access controls, human approval gates, audit logging, monitoring, cost management, and recovery procedures.
• Translate stakeholder needs into requirements, architecture, estimates, and acceptance criteria; select AI, conventional automation, or existing tools as appropriate.
• Create reusable components, documentation, and support runbooks; review vendor deliverables and support knowledge transfer, demonstrations, and team enablement.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required

• Strong Python and SQL skills, with demonstrated ownership of production applications from technical design through deployment and ongoing support.
• Hands-on experience building LLM applications using retrieval-augmented generation, structured outputs, tool calling, and controlled multi-step workflows.
• Experience integrating enterprise APIs and data sources, including authentication, authorization, background processing, retries, timeouts, and failure recovery.
• Practical expertise in software and AI testing, Git, deployment pipelines, environment management, monitoring, and release procedures.
• Understanding of secure AI application design, including sensitive-data handling, least privilege, prompt-injection risks, source attribution, and human oversight.
• Ability to independently resolve ambiguous technical problems and communicate tradeoffs clearly to business stakeholders and technical partners.

Preferred

• Experience with Finance, Accounting, Internal Audit, or other control-sensitive functions, including document generation and evidence-based decision support.
• Experience with enterprise cloud AI services, Microsoft Graph, Dataverse, SharePoint, Copilot Studio, or comparable platforms.
• Experience building MCP servers or integrations, lightweight web applications, and reusable services; familiarity with Salesforce, Tableau, or enterprise warehouses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of five years in software engineering, applied AI, data engineering, or automation, including demonstrated delivery of production LLM applications.

The annual base pay for this position is: $198,900.00 - $298,300.00

F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business.
