Building Maintenance Tech 1 - The Lodge at Snowbird

TITLE:              Building Maintenance Tech 1 - The Lodge at Snowbird

LOCATION:     Snowbird Resort, The Lodge at Snowbird

STATUS:         Full-time, year-round

SCHEDULE:    Shifts will vary from 7am to 3pm and 2pm to 10pm. Must be available for both.

• Schedule varies based on business needs. Must be available weekends and holidays.

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Lodge Maintenance Director, the Building Maintenance Tech 1 performs maintenance and repairs required to keep the Lodge at Snowbird in the good condition expected by its owners and guests.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Maintains swimming pool and jacuzzi water clarity, proper chemical balances and clean, well-kept appearance.
• Expected to help assist bell/valet
• Performs snow removal, clearing fire exits, pathways and other designated areas in a timely and continuous manner.
• Repairs or replaces broken kitchen appliances. Maintains and repairs broad range of lamps and light fixtures.
• Clears clogged drains with appropriate tool choice of power snake, hand snake, plunger or drain cleaner.
• Basic carpentry skills and painting
• Diagnose and resolve Saflok electronic lock failures. Diagnose commercial video system problems and resolve with necessary component exchanges.
• Respond to all owner and guest requests in a polite, patient, professional and timely manner.
• Drives guests in shuttles.
• Travel: Occasional trips to Salt Lake Valley.

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 Months of job-specific work experience with demonstrated competence.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid Driver License w/ Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Able to read, write, and communicate through speech. Able to use arithmetic with accuracy in counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.
• Must be reliable, mature and able to work with minimal supervision. 
• Requires some exercise of judgment within policy guidelines and without supervisory approval. 
• Requires some problem solving and initiation of activities within job description and responsibility limitations. 
• Requires strong understanding of other Snowbird operations. 
• Should be willing to accept responsibility for own actions.
• Must have the ability to interact at any time with guests and other employees in a pleasant manner and maintain good working relationships with others and all departments at Snowbird.

WORK SCHEDULE

• Full-time. 32-40 hours (position is eligible for a Snowbird season pass and season passes for dependents!).
• Specific Shifts: Varied including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
• Hours: 8 to 10-hour workdays.
• Shifts will vary from 7am to 3pm and 3pm to 11pm. Must be available for both.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Must be prepared to stay overnight, if necessary, on occasional times of road closures.
• May experience unusual stress from continual work with public, winter conditions, snow night requirements and commuting to/from Snowbird.
• Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Must demonstrate ability to bend, kneel, handle, reach, grasp and perform repetitive motions.
• Must possess the ability to work fast and efficiently under pressure.
• Work is outdoors and requires constant exposure to cold and other extreme weather conditions. 
• Work is subject to frequent interruptions making continuity and accuracy difficult, frequent exposure to noise.
• May experience stress due to periodic guest relations, also during high-occupancy periods. 
• Position requires an outgoing and friendly personality. 
• Must have the ability to work in a high-volume environment. 
• Needs the ability to make decisions quickly on guest and employee issues.
