Sanya Mandarin Oriental, Coral Bay is the first hotel of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group in Chinese mainland. Overlooking the South China Sea and boasting a 1.2‑kilometre stretch of pristine coral beach, it is an exclusive beachfront resort that occupies an entire bay.

About the job

To be responsible for formulating an annual Sales and Marketing Plan. The plan should incorporate clear and specific action plans for all related departments. In addition to this, to set a measurable results system for all colleagues of the team and regional Sales Offices.

The Director of Commercial Strategy will report directly to the General Manager.

As Director of Commercial Strategy, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Together with the General Manager, to establish and implement a strategic rate structure for all market segments.
• Together with the Revenue & Reservation Manager, to apply a Yield Management System to achieve the hotel’s budget goals.
• To be accountable for controlling the Marketing budget to the agreed annual level.
• To be responsible for the hotel’s overall rooms availability. Through the Director of Revenue, ensuring that inventory controls are applied, and revenue maximized.
• To direct the hotel sales activities through the Sales Team, ensuring that the sales team achieves their goals as laid out in the annual Marketing Plan.
• With the Director of Sales, to work closely with area and regional Sales Offices to ensure that measurable results targets are achieved.
• To plan and where appropriate, execute sales trips to major market areas and report new potential markets that should be considered.
• To continually analyze and review local and international market changes.
• Together with the General Manager, to agree programs that may be executed to address these changes. Where appropriate, these programs should be implemented through the Sales and Communication Teams.
• To maintain close relationships with all key decision-makers both in local and international markets.
• Together with the Director of Communications, to execute the direct marketing, advertising, public relations and internet marketing plan.
• To ensure that a comprehensive system for Group Allocations/Blocks is established. This system should be carefully monitored in conjunction with the Director of Sales and Director of Revenue.
• To ensure that all departments within the Sales & Marketing Division have a training plan for the year and that all colleagues have completed Legendary Sales Training and Legendary Quality Experiences training.
• Support company’s philosophy and company culture through the use of Pillars of Legendary Quality Experiences on a daily basis to ensure Guest Satisfaction and the achievement of our Mission Statement.
• To communicate assertively and openly with MOHG Sales and Marketing Divisional Heads, Regional Sales offices and contracted P.R. and Communications consultants and companies.
