Key Position Details:

Cardiac electrophysiology specialty

• 1.0 FTE for 4-day work week. 10-hr days (7a - 5p)
• Outpatient / inpatient split
• Primarily located at United Hospital (St. Paul), secondary in Woodbury and Hastings
• Weekends/holidays based on EP program needs

Job Description:

Provides help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations as part of a Physician/Advanced Practice Provider team in accordance with the designated specialty. Works in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can perform independently or as part of a treatment team. Serves as an educator, case manager, consultant to staff and multidisciplinary health care team.

Principle Responsibilities

• Provides clinical care for patients
  • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
  • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
  • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
  • Refers for specialty care when determined.
  • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Physician Assistant scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
• Participates in health care team
  • Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
  • Acts as resource to members of the team.
  • Works with primary care team for program development.
  • Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
  • Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree - Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program

Preferred Qualifications

• New graduates may be considered. Minimum 2 years experience in cardiology or ICU

Licenses/Certifications

• Licensed Physician Assistant or Licensed Nurse Practitioner - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
• ACLS-BLS Tier 2 - Multisource required within 180 days
• Certification as Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner - NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire
• Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire

Physical Demands

• Medium Work*:
• Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $56.48 to $78.15 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
