Position Summary

Qnity is seeking an R&D Scientist to join our Advanced Circuits & Packaging (ACP) team in Marlborough, Massachusetts. The ACP organization develops innovative materials and technologies that address critical challenges in the global semiconductor packaging and circuit manufacturing industries.

This role is ideal for a scientist with expertise in polymer and organic chemistry, materials science, and formulation development who enjoys hands-on laboratory work and collaborating with global technical teams.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of next-generation electroplating products through polymer synthesis, formulation design, materials characterization, process scale-up, and electrochemical testing. In addition to working within cross-functional teams, this individual will lead focused technical projects and serve as a resource for less experienced team members.

This is a 100% onsite position based in our Marlborough, MA facility.

Please note: Sponsorship is not available now or in the future for this opportunity.

What You'll Do

  • Support research and development of new additives and formulations used in electroplating products for the electronics industry

  • Collaborate with global technical and commercial teams on product development projects

  • Perform polymer synthesis and characterization at laboratory and pilot scales

  • Design and execute experiments involving electroplating, electrochemistry, chromatography, microscopy, NMR, and materials testing

  • Collect, analyze, interpret, and communicate experimental results to internal and external stakeholders

  • Prepare samples, support scale-up activities, and contribute to process development efforts

  • Lead focused technical projects with minimal supervision

  • Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and actively participate in laboratory safety initiatives

What We Are Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry or research experience

  • Hands-on experience with wet chemistry techniques and laboratory experimentation

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and test technical hypotheses and operate standard chemical and analytical instrumentation

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, or materials chemistry

  • Experience with polymer synthesis and characterization

  • Knowledge of electroplating bath formulation, electrochemistry, or electrodeposition processes

  • Experience using analytical techniques such as NMR, chromatography, cyclic voltammetry, spectroscopy, and titration methods

  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis and Design of Experiments (DOE)

  • Experience supporting semiconductor, electronics, or advanced materials applications
