Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center - Boise, Idaho
Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center is seeking a skilled and patient-focused Vascular Sonographer to join our Boise-based Vascular Ultrasound team. This position performs a variety of non-invasive vascular diagnostic studies to evaluate arterial and venous circulation, supporting the diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease. The Vascular Sonographer works collaboratively with vascular surgeons, physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff to deliver high-quality patient care and exceptional service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform physiologic and duplex ultrasound examinations of arterial and venous vascular structures.
Utilize spectral Doppler analysis, color flow Doppler imaging, and other vascular testing modalities to obtain accurate diagnostic information.
Prepare patients for examinations, explain procedures, and provide compassionate patient-centered care.
Evaluate image quality and ensure studies are complete and meet department and physician standards.
Accurately document examination findings and patient information within the electronic medical record and ultrasound reporting systems.
Communicate critical findings and collaborate with physicians and care teams to support timely patient diagnosis and treatment.
Maintain equipment functionality and report equipment concerns as needed.
Adhere to departmental policies, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and infection prevention protocols.
Participate in department quality improvement initiatives and continuing education opportunities.
Assist in maintaining efficient patient workflow while supporting access to care and operational goals.
Education and Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related Allied Health program.
Current Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) credential through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), or ability to obtain RVT certification within one year of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Military Training Network.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of vascular anatomy, physiology, pathology, and ultrasound imaging principles.
Proficiency in duplex ultrasound examinations of arterial and venous systems.
Strong critical-thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and adapt to changing patient care needs.
