Job Title: Advocate III – Resource Coordinator
Location: OKC Night Shelter
Reports To: Shelter Manager Operations
Salary: $19.50
FLSA Status: Full time, non-exempt. Monday–Friday 11AM - 7:00PM

City Care is searching for the right person with a knack for seeing great potential in others and working as part of a team with the shared goal of motivating change toward that potential. This Advocate will understand the complexity of the intersection of poverty, homelessness, mental illness and substance use for our neighbors experiencing unsheltered homelessness.
Position Summary:
The Resource Coordinator assists guests experiencing homelessness with intake, assessments, documentation recovery, and connection to wraparound services. This role supports clients in meeting their goals, linking with current services, and maintaining compliance with the Coordinated Entry System for housing in Oklahoma City.
This position works closely with vulnerable single adults and families with children while providing trauma-informed support, case management assistance, data entry, and community resource coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out the mission, vision, and values of City Care.
- Assist guests with shelter intake, assessments, and documentation collection.
- Complete HMIS data entry and other required documentation.
- Help clients obtain important documents such as IDs, Social Security cards, birth certificates, and proof of income.
- Educate incoming guests on shelter rules, expectations, and policies.
- Develop individualized plans with guests to address unmet needs and overall wellness.
- Connect guests to mental health, physical health, housing, food, and recovery resources.
- Provide case management support, referrals, and resource development.
- Collaborate with Oklahoma City Continuum of Care partners and community agencies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client files and records.
- Conduct follow-up appointments and maintain consistent engagement with guests.
- Attend weekly staffing and community meetings as designated.
- Uphold professional confidentiality among guests, volunteers, interns, and staff.
Requirements
Skills & Experience:
- Embodiment of City Care culture and values.
- Understanding of the intersection of poverty, homelessness, mental illness, substance use, and recovery.
- Ability to work with compassion, professionalism, and a non-judgmental approach.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and navigate stressful or complex situations.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to use computers and accurately enter data into databases.
- HMIS experience preferred.
Requirements:
- Previous case management, recovery, justice, or advocacy experience.
- Previous experience working with adults or children living with disabilities.
- Ability to pass pre-employment background check, driving record review, and drug screening.
- Must possess a current Oklahoma driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, Public Service, Human Services, or equivalent experience.
- Professional experience navigating mental and physical health systems, benefits, and community resources.
- Previous shelter experience.
- Peer Recovery Support Specialist certification or lived/work experience in recovery environments.
