Description
Role Summary
United Contractor Services is seeking a Full Stack Developer to build, enhance, and support the internal applications and tools our field and office teams rely on every day. This role covers the full lifecycle - front‑end interfaces, back‑end services, databases, and the APIs that tie them to our core business platforms.
The ideal candidate is both hands‑on and analytical: someone who can write clean, maintainable code, design a sensible data model, debug a production issue, and also sit down with accounting, operations, or a project team to understand what they actually need before writing a line of it.
This is not a ticket‑based support role. This position owns the applications it builds, end to end.
Technology Environment (examples)
- Internal web applications and dashboards supporting field and office operations
- Viewpoint Vista (ERP) and Procore (project management) data and APIs
- Payroll and HR systems including ADP / Paylocity
- Microsoft ecosystem - M365, Entra ID, Teams, Power Platform, Azure
- ManageEngine ServiceDesk / Freshservice
Key Responsibilities
Application Development
- Build and maintain internal web applications from front end through back end, including UI, business logic, APIs, and database layers.
- Design and optimize relational database schemas, queries, and stored procedures.
- Develop and consume REST APIs and webhooks to move data between internal applications and core business platforms.
- Write readable, testable, maintainable code and participate in code review.
Business Analysis & Solution Design
- Partner with accounting, operations, HR, project teams, and IT to understand workflows and translate them into working software.
- Identify manual processes that can be replaced with purpose‑built tools or automation.
- Turn business requirements into technical designs, data models, and delivery plans.
Quality, Deployment & Support
- Test, deploy, monitor, and support applications in production.
- Troubleshoot and resolve defects, performance problems, and data integrity issues across the stack.
- Implement logging, alerting, validation, and error handling so problems surface before users report them.
Documentation & Standards
- Document application architecture, data models, field definitions, and business rules.
- Establish standards for source control, API usage, authentication, and change management.
- Ensure applications meet security, access control, and audit requirements.
Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate frameworks, third‑party tools, and APIs that could accelerate delivery.
- Improve the scalability, maintainability, and performance of existing applications.
- Proactively recommend improvements to leadership rather than waiting to be asked.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional software development experience across front end and back end
- Proficiency in at least one back‑end language (C#, Python, JavaScript/Node, etc.)
- Front‑end experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a modern framework (React, Angular, Vue, or similar)
- Strong SQL and relational database design skills
- Hands‑on experience building and consuming REST/JSON APIs, including authentication (OAuth, tokens)
- Experience with source control and standard development workflows (Git)
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into working software
- Strong troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis skills
- Comfortable working independently and owning outcomes
Preferred Experience
- Viewpoint Vista, Procore, ADP, or Paylocity integration or reporting experience
- Microsoft ecosystem development (Azure, Azure Functions, Power Platform, Entra ID)
- Cloud hosting, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization
- Reporting and BI tools (Power BI, SSRS)
- Construction or project‑based business environments
