Description
Genesis Capital (the “Company”) is one of the largest business purpose lenders in the country, focused on providing commercial real estate financing solutions to real estate developers who buy, renovate, and sell single-family and/or multi-family residential real estate. The Company is a subsidiary of Rithm Capital (parent company), a publicly traded mortgage real estate investment trust.
Responsible for the ongoing monitoring, reporting, risk management, and administration of a real estate loan portfolio, with a focus on large borrower relationships, covenant compliance, sponsor oversight, construction monitoring, and proactive identification of credit risks. Acts as a key partner to Lending Team Managers (LTMs), Relationship Managers (RMs), Relationship Associates (RAs), Credit, and Portfolio Risk teams to ensure timely escalations and effective portfolio management.
Principal Duties:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Large Loan Portfolio Oversight ($20MM+)
- Establish and maintain quarterly reporting, monitoring, and risk review processes for all relationships with commitments exceeding $20MM.
- Partner with Technology and reporting teams to develop automated monitoring and reporting capabilities.
- Conduct quarterly portfolio review meetings with Lending Team Managers to discuss performance, emerging risks, exceptions, and action plans.
- Identify and escalate adverse trends and recommend mitigation strategies.
Loan Extension Management
- Monitor upcoming maturity dates and extension requests across the portfolio.
- Track borrowers approaching maximum extension limits and escalate concerns proactively.
- Assist lending teams in evaluating refinancing opportunities and structuring viable solutions for maturing credits.
Financial Reporting and Covenant Compliance
- Oversee quarterly covenant testing and compliance monitoring, including:
- Debt Service Coverage Ratio (DSCR).
- Occupancy requirements and trend analysis.
- Other financial and operational covenants.
- Manage liquidity covenant monitoring and testing.
- Identify covenant breaches and coordinate remediation efforts with lending and credit partners.
Sponsor Relationship Management
- Monitor upcoming sponsor reviews and renewal requirements.
- Assist Relationship Managers and Relationship Associates in advancing sponsor renewals through the approval process.
- Prepare interim sponsor updates and limit increase memorandums.
Sponsor and Concentration Reporting
- Assist with any Top 20 Sponsor reporting.
- Provide portfolio-level analysis to senior leadership highlighting key risks, opportunities, and concentration considerations.
Delinquency and Credit Risk Management
- Monitor delinquent payment activity throughout the portfolio.
- Assist lending teams with borrower outreach and resolution strategies.
- Analyze delinquency trends and identify emerging portfolio risks.
Education and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
- 4+ years working experience in working as a portfolio analyst/associate.
- Knowledge of bank operations/ systems and compliance/ regulatory issues.
- Experience in private money or hard money preferred.
- Expert knowledge in complex commercial lending and financial deal structuring.
- Expert knowledge of credit underwriting policies, procedures, processes, collateral valuation, and documentation.
- Highly Proficient/Advanced in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database application.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong attention to detail and an ability to multi-task, respond well to pressure and deadlines, and work well individually and in a collaborative environment.
- Fast learner - able to assimilate new ideas and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lead and manage multiple tasks concurrently and self-prioritize workload to meet deadlines as an individual and leader.
